I didn’t have cable at the time and can’t afford the luxury of a DVD set so I missed the whole series. Is there a site that lists the same info? The more detail, trivia and minutiae the better. I found a blog post on Mental Floss about how the states were named but having a hell of a time with the borders. Any help? As always, thanks in advance.
Season 2 stats tonight.
You could probably find the books in your local library. Perhaps even the e-book version is available.
I don’t think anything in those books is particularly obscure. I know the part about my state’s borders could be found in any any short history of the state. Is there a particular border you’re interested in?
Note it premieres on the History Channel 2, however, not on the original History Channel. Repeats will air on the regular History Channel starting next Friday, however, for those who don’t get History 2.
Is Saturday at 10 the regular timeslot?
I would say it depends on your time zone. It starts at 7:00 for me here in Arizona. It’ll probably go to 8:00 for me when the rest of the country goes off DST.
The book is good except that it doesn’t even mention the Washington Meridian, which the borders of Colorado and a few adjacent states were set in relation to, rather than the Greenwich Meridian. You can also look at U.S. Geological Service Bulletin 1212, *Boundaries of the United States and the Several States *online for free.
:smack: meant to add the Eastern, part.
