Make sure you also get Freespace Open. It’s the open source Freespace 2 engine, with updated graphics capabilities, such as support for modern high resolution widescreen displays. You’ll also be able to load modern mods such as new missions or even total conversions.
Is there any kind of time pressure on how quickly we must get Freespace Open? I already added Freespace 2 to my GoG library, so I’m good there.
I assume Freespace Open is free and open (ha!) but just want to verify. I’d hate to finally sit down to play FreeSpace 2 for the first time like 18 months from now only to discover I missed my chance to download the thing that lets it fill my screen.
