Where are they? I’ve been told there are American sites that offer the same stuff Sprint does but for free. All of my searches yiled British sites or sites that don’t work. Has anyone figured out where to get them? Thanks in advance.
Sprint sucks, there isn’t much more to it. They charge you $5 a month to download ringtones and stupid pictures. Mine goes into roam 5 minutes away from the place I bought it, and this is in one of the largest cities in the Unites States. Nationwide my ass, they can’t even get the backyard done right.
I happen to be one of those few people that doesn’t hate Sprint and gets great service and minutes plan. Now I’ve had problems but not to the degree of the people I’ve read here. Lucky me I guess.
Anyway to get get on topic, I was looking for the same type of websites when I first got my upgrade to the Sprint Vision. I assume you have this too.
The only site I found and recommend is Matrixm.com (Mods, if this is inappropriate please delete). They offer a few free samples of ringers and pictures you can download. Otherwise you need to set up an account to get the good ones. They do have thousands to choose from and you get it within seconds of your purchase. You can buy on a per download basis but its more money per item.
You are able to hear the ringer on your computer before you buy it and other members may rate the ringer as well (doesn’t always hapen).
I’ve used them exclusively since I got my Vision phone back in April (or so). The best thing is that the ringers do not expire as long as you have the same phone. If you change phone models or service you will need to buy them again. However if your phone breaks and your get a replacement phone (same model) then you only need to go to your locker and download them onto the new phone.
The cost IMO is reasonable. You can get a picture sent for 10 cents and ringers for about $1.00 to $1.50 (cheaper with discounts). The have some games and applications too but I haven’t used them.
IIRC, they say you are really only paying for them to format and send the ringer/picture to your phone. You are not technically paying for the ringer/picture. Meaning the picture is “free” but it cost 10 cents to format and send it to you.
Sorry I couldn’t help with an all free site.
I have read and reread your post and still can’t find the answer to the OP’s question anywhere in there. Then I double checked to make sure I was in GQ and not the Pit, sure enough, still here in GQ. Maybe it is you that should check the room you are posting in?
If you have a data cable for your phone, you should be able to download ringers and wallpapers to your computer, then upload them to your phone. What model is your phone?
I have a Sanyo 8100CP camera phone. No data cable though.
A quick Google Groups search turned up www.d-d-n.com as a place to get ringers… it looks like they send the ringers to your phone with SMS. You may want to check out the newsgroup alt.cellular.sprintpcs for more answers.
If you get a data cable (here’s one site that sells them), you can use almost any MIDI file as a ringtone. Google should turn up plenty of sites where you can download MIDIs.
Bongmaster, your post does not answer the OP in any way, shape or form, nor is it appropriate for GQ.
Kindly take your rants elsewhere.
Thank you.
