Fresh mozzarella that isn't: need answer fast

I have a shortage of good cheese right now, and I’m not shopping much due to covid.

I had some decent cheddar for lunch, though. It’s older than the mozzarella, but of course cheddar keeps really well. So i didn’t start a thread about it. :grinning:

Also, my husband gives me grief about food i buy and don’t eat. That might be my real motivation.

Serve it to him first, observe him closely for 24-48 hours, and if he’s doing ok, go ahead and chow down.

Lol, he doesn’t eat cheese at all. He never buys it unless i put something extremely explicit on the shopping list. So i bought myself a little treat, then didn’t eat it. Bad me.

This is most likely a combination of her longish title (Your friendly neighborhood journeymod) combined with the longish name of the person she is replying to (@FriendlyCurmudgeon). Your browser tried to fit all that in line with the name @puzzlegal, and it chopped off a bit.

I’ve only ever seen it chop off the title (the post say "Your friendly neighborhood journey…) to me, but I’ve seen this sort of thing happen on other websites.

Tell him it’s tofu.

but the stuff probably just got a bit denser and saltier and less fresh tasting. Still enjoyable. At need, throw it at him.

Plus more characters to satisfy the software

Oh, most likely. But isn’t it funnier to blame it on the cheese?

Your “dog” avatar looks suspiciously like a cat to me.

Further, if one is going to feed suspicious food to their dog, it better be an outside dog.

IANA pet owner, and I’m not much concerned about the critter’s well-being. But as between cleaning dog barf & diarrhea from gosh-knows-where in the house, but probably someplace inaccessible, expensive, or both, I think I’d rather just feel crappy myself.

A outside dog solves both problems. Just leave them outside long enough for whatever does or doesn’t happen to happen. Then Bob’s your uncle. Not your kid!

Oh, I have a couple of those, too. But they are a lot more picky about their food than the dog.

This particular dog will eat practically anything, including cat, deer and human :poop: with evident delight. I have never seen her barf. There is a reason that many cultures consider dogs “unclean,” right up there with pigs. So thank you for caring for her health & well-being but I think we’re good.

I didn’t mean to hijack the thread  but for me this is an easy solution for food I find in the fridge that might be a problem but I don’t want to throw away. “Let’s see if Mikey likes it --”

Not needed.

I added them after the software complained.

Do not confuse emoticons w emojis. They have different lengths from Discourse’s POV.

I cut a bunch of the little spheres in half, and melted them onto toast for lunch. Delicious. I’ll probably consume the rest tomorrow.

The post above was a copy-and-paste from puzzlegal’s post.

Now try creating it from the little gear menu. I expected it to work, as sometimes those smilies do post alone. But it didn’t. I got an error message.

“Little gear menu”?

In the response box the right most icon on the top is a ‘gear’ with options for hiding text and adding a poll.

Yes, when i hit “reply” there are a lot of little boxes above the window i type in. Link’s, quotes, and to the far right, a little gear. But actually, i used the little smilie button, not the little gear button.
