Courts refused to toss out absentee ballots in Seminole and Martin counties, FSC ordered recounts to immediately start again, indicated that the 300+ votes that had been counted for Gore but not added to the official tally, be added ('cause the rest of the votes were to be counted) in other words, pick up where you left off.
Still yet to be heard from is another one by DNC to challenge absentee ballots statewide that arrived after the elections (doubt that will go anywhere).
Bush has promised an appeal of the FSC (he promised this before they ruled)
FSL is still planning on naming Bush the winner.

Thanks, but no. I’ve decided to step out of the election threads (my last comment was a’la Rodney King). This is getting way ugly. And frankly, I’m tired of folks being snide and rude, claiming impartiality while busy parroting party lines (on both sides).
You got that right!
I find situations like this interesing, because they show so clearly (to me) how hard it is to be objective about anything. And so many people make no attempt to do so, yet they present their partisan views as indisputable fact. Not the type of thing I find particularly enjoyable or enlightening.
And once it got into the courts, it was wierd seeing the media and the parties trying to present things as tho they would change on a day-to-day basis. This is such a big deal, and it is so fucked up, that it will require considerable carving before it is even cognizable. The underlying facts, concerning the "fairness/correctness/accuracy of the proceedings concerning the election and count have not changed since election day and immediately thereafter. It is hard to see when this will assume some shape, or what the possible forms are. I find it all disappointing. And, since I consider it impossible to attain any clarity at this point, I have willingly remained ignorant (my default position!) Perhaps not the most laudable position (especially with so many TV shows going into reruns already…)
