Since the wife is away, I am enjoying a bottle of Painted Horse 2001 Zinfandel. (My wife doesn’t like Zins. Mixed marriages are hard sometimes.) A pleasant wine to go with my leftovers. Not great by any means, but a good journeyman Zin. Lots of berries, with a touch of leather.
it seems to be a zin night. i am enjoying gnarly head’s 2004 old vines zin. very full bodied and bold flavor and a very pleasant fragrance. i will be picking up a couple more bottles tomorrow
Last night it was 2004 Hogue Late Harvest White Riesling, from the Columbia Valley. Very sweet, almost a dessert wine, but with a little sour apple undertone. Went surprisingly well with the Chinese food we were eating, but I wouldn’t want to drink a lot of it.
The night before was 2003 Cape Diamond Merlot from Oregon, which was tasty.
Tonight may be my Zinfandel night–I have one simply called The Zin (from Lodi) that is supposed to be good, and it looks like meat grillin’ weather.
