Friends Spin-Off / Sit-Com Show

After Friends ends, the Matt Leblanc character Joey is getting his own Spin-Off / Sit-Com Show.

All I have to say is How? and Why?. Friends works because it is the 6 of them getting into each others business, or hooking up, or helping each other, or making fun of each other. It is the emsemble of the 6 that works.

How? Why? does NBC think Joey alone can make a Sit-com Show work. I don’t get it Joey is the Stupideous Character I’ve seen on a Sit-Com Show in a long time.

At least with Frazier NBC, waited a while before Kelsey Grammer got his show.

What I want to know is - Why Joey, and not Chandler?

(because Chandler is married.

Bastard)

Don’t worry. It won’t be around long.

IMO, they all lucked into their current jobs, and as evidenced by their attempts at movie stardom, I think it’s inevitable that this project will fail as well.

?

Whole Nine Yards was a very good film!

As long as there are hotties in the supporting cast and the writing is up to par with friends, I’ll watch.

I think it should be an hour long drama with an insane Phoebe hunting down each cast member and the brave homicide detective that is trying to stop her brutal rampage.

Whatever happened to Ursula, the evil Phoebe?

Ursula was a character on “Mad About You,” not “Friends.”

Ursula was Phoebe’s Evil Twin Sister on Friends.

What I want to know is how are they making a Joey spin off without Chandler, never mind the rest of them, but Joey was always going on about friendship, but now he wont have this best friend? Oh yea I’m buying that!

Ursula was actually on Mad About You before she became a character on Friends, and for a while it was simultaneous.

I’ll watch the spin-off, but in my opinion, any show about Joey should have been called “How YOU doin?”

Gee, I wonder what this tells us about who Rachel is going to end up with? Hmmm.

You just know he’s going to be saddled with a smart-alecky nephew or foster daughter. Oy.

He does have 6 sassy sisters. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve had a dozen kids since we last saw them.

I can’t recall where I read it, it was a link off of Fark.com…but it said something to the fact of moving him out west to California possibly so it wouldn’t have the necessity for the other 5 (overpriced) Friends to be regulars.

I’m surprised Joey could be a New York actor for eight years and never appear on Oz or one of the Law & Order shows.

He must be really lousy or something.

Intaglio:

Right. So, obviously, a Joey sitcom would work differently. No problem there.

I’m sure they don’t. I’m positive there will be other characters on the show and it won’t be Joey “alone.”

This is incorrect. Cheers went off the air in spring of 1993, and Frasier debuted the very next season, in fall of 1993.

I don’t remember the name of it, but Matt LeBlanc had a sitcom before Friends, it was a sort-of spin-off from Married with Children, but it didn’t last very long…I don’t even remember the name of it.

Come to think of it, wasn’t Ross in a sitcom previously, I think he was Henry Winkler’s son or something? Or was I drinking WAAAAY too much back in the late 80’s/early 90’s?

David Schwimmer appeared in The Wonder Years as the boyfriend/husband of the daughter. I’m not sure about any other roles.

Courtney Cox, was of course, on Family Ties as Alex’s girlfriend, and Jennifer Aniston played the sister on the blessedly short lived **Ferris Beuller ** TV show.

Not sure about Matthew Perry.
