Fritz The Cat

well there are defiantly some really good scenes in it and in whole I like the animation considering how old it is and I’ll be honest there was relent social commentary (be it I never take to kindly to the bashing of intellectuals). But in all honesty I’m not sure if like the film yet or not mainly because i know that Robert Crumb Loathed the film (be it i think that was a inevitable) and quickly killed Frits off in the comic. On the other hand i have to give Ralph Bakshi credit for doing something that i know must have schoked the Hell out of everyone when it was made.

Anyway I would like the to know what anyone eles whose watched thinks about it.

Ps how did Bakshi ever get this made in the first place?

PSS how different is the comic from the movie? considering how angry Crumb was I suspect they are significant.

It’s definitely one of my all time faves, and I want to get it on DVD (if it’s available).

FTC was given an X rating at the time. You have to wonder how it would have been rated today. There was some head-scratching at the time over giving an X to showing a dog’s breasts. When it came to my hometown, I had just gotten a mail-order minister’s ordination from the Universal Life Church. I dressed in a priest’s collar for the movie. After the show, several people did double-takes at the sight of a “priest” at an X-rated movie. Some even ducked out of view so I wouldn’t spot them. I was severely amused. :stuck_out_tongue:
