Marketplace is already tucked down low, but perhaps it would make sense to move the category about Cecil’s columns near the bottom, too, as it’s effectively dead.
Discourse doesn’t show much per screen, and real estate near the top is valuable. We should use it for active categories, IMHO.
Given that people can mute any forum they don’t want to see, I don’t think it’s necessary for us to move forums around.
Perhaps but defaults can help a lot more people without requiring them to customize.
Mute also works on people as well, the terminology is a bit different, we’re going to switch to the bell glyph for that soon too, so it’s more consistent. You can do this from the target user page, or from your preferences – one caveat, you must be trust level 2 to unlock ignore versus mute.

That reminds me to ask … Whatever happened to Ed’s Paulina Street Journal columns? Are they still around on-line anywhere? He did a great movie review of Inception a few years ago that I can’t find anymore.

I really liked the color scheme that the board was using on March 22-23. I’m assuming it was some kind of experiment. But it would be nice if you used it permanently.
The color scheme is based on the theme you’re using The closest to what the board was on March 22 is Straight Dope Light. You might try that.
Go to avatar icon in right corner, the person icon, then preferences, then pick interface on the left, then pick the theme in the drop down menu as Straight Dope Light. Hit save and see if you like it. If you don’t, remember what it was so that you can go back.
