I just came off a 4-hour straight teaching binge. Before the binge, the hamburger menu showed what it had always shown (number of new threads, number of unread threads, number of messages, and a couple of other things. Now it’s showing two categories: Community and Messages. And the choices underneath those two categories are not all that helpful.
What happened? Better question: how do I get it back to the old useful way?
Rotate your phone to landscape view. Does that change the display much?
Now there are more choices underneath Community on the hamburger menu. Still not all that helpful. Seriously, Discourse design crew: the idea behind testing is to test it before you present it to the users.
There you go … was thinking it was just context sensitive mod to tick off us non-merkin dopers for their history of posting non-patriotic things.
So we’re all in the same bucket of merde. Misery loves company.
It does that until you hide the keyboard, then it goes back to split-screen until you start typing again. But I use that to “peek” at the thread when necessary. I hide the keyboard with the “Done” button.
The only change I’ve noticed is that the hamburger menu is broken. (Well, technically it’s still doing something, just not something i have any interest in.) But the appearance is the same for me.
I’m navigating by clicking the logo. (The bar that says “the straight dope message board”).
I don’t use the hamburger menu enough to notice it being different, but the other one, the one with my profile picture (just the default letter J in my case), that shows threads I’m following is acting different. Now, after viewing a thread, instead of it remaining in that list, it disappears and everything slides up.
If nothing else, it’s going to quickly be populated with a list of threads I was following but haven’t kept up with.
I’m not sure if that’s worth creating it’s own thread about or if it’s part of this problem.
