frothed milk

I bought a cappuccino a few weeks ago, and the milk foam had a distinct perfume-y taste to it. Last week, I had another cappuccino, and the same thing ocurred. After the first beverage, I thought that the flowery taste was the result of the perfume that the server may have been wearing. After the second drink, I was thrown off, because it was a different server (the chances for a coincidence were too remote, in my opinion). Just this morning, a coworker bought a small carton of milk. When she shook it up prior to drinking it, it foamed up a bit, producing the same potpourri taste. In all cases the milk was skim. Why does this happen? It sure ruins a good cappuccino…
