Frozen Contacts

I wear daily contacts, and I try to keep spares available in case I lose one or it tears. The weather is starting to get colder.

What would happen if I left one of the individual packs in my car on a night things got below freezing. I assume that the saline solution would have to get a bit under to freeze, but what would happen if the little blister froze solid? Would I be able to thaw it and pop it in, or would it be destroyed in the process?

Saline solution has rehydrated some contacts I’ve lost on the floor for 4+ hours before. I think drying them out is much worse than anything freezing could do. If they do freeze, just pay extra attention the next day or two. If there’s a micro-tear or something you should notice it within the first day usually.

I tried to revive contacts I’d lost for 12 hours once before, it was not to be. Eye itched and was red as all hell for 30 minutes, then I popped the contact in the trash.

Maybe I’ll just toss on in the freezer and find out.

Then, of course, you should microwave it to thaw it out.
