Is/was there really a frozen leopard near the top of Mt. Kilimonjaro, as mentioned in the Hemingway story?
If so, when was it found? Was it ever photographed or autopsied? Was it moved to a museum or is it still on the mountian?
According to this site, the frozen leopard (photo on the site) was discovered in 1926 by Richard Reuss. It also says that the leopard has since disappeared.
Great question, namowal. A few weeks ago I was speaking to a friend and found out he was going to climb Kilimanjaro on holiday.
So I told him about Hemingway’s claim. And he just looked at me funny. Oh well
Frozen Kilimanjaro Leopard is a great band name.
