FU Google, I don't care that I might know these other people, I don't wannabe their internet pals

That’s the only way I know of doing it. AFAIK, Facebook keeps that quiet.

I’ll one up you one more. I get Linked In requests from local people who I don’t even know and then, when I accept them, they recommend be for skills that they’ve never used or that I don’t even have!

Back to the OP, always remember you are not Facebook/Google/Whatever’s customer, you are their product. There isn’t a lot of incentive to keep you happy by respecting your wish for privacy or fewer intrusions. There is, however, a huge incentive for them to keep their advertisers happy by shoving as much crap down your throat as they can.

Jeez, Boyo Jim again. He seems to have a problem with social media.

I’ve already assured him I don’t know him, don’t like him, don’t know anybody that he knows, and don’t want to be his Internet fuck buddy. I haven’t friended him, don’t want to be his play date, don’t want to play Farmville with him, and haven’t recommended him for any skills.

I don’t know how much more I can not do.

If you are using Google+, disable that shit. Or if you must maintain a presence there, don’t use that for your main Google account. It’s actually not that hard to have two Google accounts. There’s an option to switch accounts in the upper right hand corner. You can also use the Private mode of your browser. I’d suggest using it for the Google+ account, not the regular account.

Then again, you hate Facebook, so you probably don’t want to be on Google+ either. And that’s the only way Google will be telling you what your friends are doing. Google is really insistent on you using their Google+ platform, often hiding it as something else. (Like an upgrade button on YouTube or, worse, asking you if you want to use your real name, which automatically enables Google+.) Plus it’s now automatic if you get a new account.

Google is starting to be like that friend who keeps on trying to get you to go on a date with them.

Yes it is. Sometimes when I try to switch accounts it takes two days to get a response.
