Nor do I wanna “like” them or whatever the fuck else one does in social media. Let me do my searches, give me my email, and even market whatever crop you market based on my internet history. I don’t want a matchmaker, I don’t want play dates, I and even more, I don’t want Google telling other people they should get in touch with me. Presumably the people who I get notified about also get notified about me.
Who are those bastards who created MySpace and Facebook? Are they still alive? Why?
You think thats bad? I keep getting notified that 3 people have defriended me. And I ain’t even ON Facebook.
That really hurts emotionally. Apparently I am such an asshole in the future that people are taking the trouble of traveling back in time to premptively defriend me
I got a message that two people unfriended me in Facebook. I don’t even have a Facebook account and I’m already losing friends there. Gotta love Google.
I have a facebook and I’ve never gotten a message from google or facebook or anyone else that I’ve been defriended. Sounds like someone in your email circle has fallen prey to some sort of spam.
That’s what I’m thinking. I’ve never gotten a defriending message either. Heck, I don’t think I’d know if I were defriended, given FB’s wacky algorithm.
But Google telling you? People I know who are on G+ have never gotten one of those…
I’m getting “LinkedIn” requests from people I barely know— like a guy I played rugby with back in the 70s. And I can’t reply and say “Sorry, I don’t do ‘Social’ Media. Nothing personal.” I’d drop him a line if I had his email. He’s probably crying by now, you know how those Scrum Halfs get…
Not to be a one-upper, but I’ve been getting them from people I don’t know at all. I think they’re linked to former coworkers of mine from a previous job, and are looking to close the gap even though I haven’t worked there in six years and we’ve never met in any capacity. I don’t really understand the point.
Google+ may send out the irritating “your friends are doing cool things without you on our website!” junk too. I know after I signed up for it I got plenty until I filtered them. I guess I still do, I just don’t see it anymore. Since Google keeps making it harder/impossible to sign up for any of their services without starting a Google+ profile as well, it’s possible OP is registered on Google+ and doesn’t even know it.
It’s actually a nifty service, the hardest part was getting the Google Maps car up there.
Facebook does all it can to hide that you’ve been defriended by people, so, what you’re getting is certainly spam or a phishing attempt from a third party.
LinkedIn is a service for connecting you with shitty recruiters who will send you sleazy sales jobs once a week.
What really sucks is when you’re trying to find some info on a business, like their web site, and Google helpfully sends you to the Google+ page that they helpfully made for the business. The page with zero information on it. Thanks, Google!
Also I think you can get browser plugins or GreaseMonkey scripts or whatever that will compare your friends list to a previously-saved version and see who is no longer on there.
