Oh, good God. Do companies not realize that people have cell phones numbers whose area code may not reflect their current address? Or that you might want to call from a number that is not associated with the account?
I’m trying to arrange to disconnect service for a deceased relative and the assume that since I am calling from an Oregon number I must want to talk with an Oregon service representative. After I navigate 5 levels of phone menu hell I finally get a person that can’t help me with service in Massachusetts. When they transfer me the first time I get disconnected and have to do it all over again. Then when I called for a follow-up I have to go through it yet another time.
It’s 2012, don’t companies know that people with cell phones don’t change their numbers when they move?
