(And aside to Arden’s Ranger - if you liked Warriors of the Wind, wait until Disney finally gets around to releasing the translation of Nausica of the Valley of Wind, the Miyazaki work that it was edited down from (which resulted in Miyazaki refusing to allow any of his works to be translated again for almost 2 decades).)
After searching Google, I found that there is, in fact, a controversy regarding the two films. I was not able to conclude that there was a lawsuit already filed by the Nadia producers, but it I would not be surprised if you were to soon hear something about.
In the few articles I read where the Atlantis producers were asked about the similarities, they were reported to have said something to the effect of, “Why, yes, they do bear a slight resemblance, don’t they? Huh…”
Eutychus55, able to find an actual report that Disney had bought the rights to Nadia. I never said it was true, though either, only suspected. The more I read, the more I am learning that it may have been an unauthorized “reproduction”.
Here are some ideas of what might happen, or has happened already:

The matters will be taken to court and the producers will win a hefty settlement. This is highly unlikely because Disney will pay whatever is necessary to maintain their wholesome image.

Disney initially attemped to by the rights before production but were denied and decided to proceed with production anyway. Then Disney was threatened with a lawsuit and they paid a hefty “shut-up” settlement
My real theory is that the original storyboard writers slacked off on their character sketches until the final approval meeting, so they whipped the characters out(plagairizing Nadia)at the last minute and brought them to the meeting. The producers loved it and told them to go ahead, and the storyboard writers winced in pain as they knew they were going to be in serious trouble. They never said anything to the boys upstairs and now management is facing some heat, and the weight of the world is on the shoulders of the lazy storyboard writers. Just a theory.

Wishbone, I’m going to agree with you. Absolutely, completely, I will believe without any evidence supporting you, that Disney paid the creators of Nadia off beforehand to avoid legal complications afterwards.
For, you see, this makes things so much simpler. Disney no longer plagurized anything. They were given permission by Nadia to do exactly what they did. So, really, your hatred and anger should properly be directed towards Nadia, and amime in general, for giving away their originality for monetary gain.

Enderw24, I have lightly kicked myself for having posted the word “hate” in my original thread, because it gives people the idea that I posess some animosity torward Disney. That is my fault. But at that time I had not yet come to the conclusion that there must have been some sort of monetary agreement between Disney and Electra(producers of Nadia).
I disapprove of Electra for selling the rights to Nadia(if they have) and I disapprove of Disney for not coming up with something creative on their own. So Enderw24, I do still harbor bad feelings toward Disney, even though it is a reproduction, rather than plagerising, and because the line at Space Mountain is always too damn long. And because they gave Brittney Spears and Justin Timberlake their big break.
