Fuck France.......again

Nice going france, letting terrorists broadcast their filth in their country.

Their stupidity will eventually cost them big time, but that will be their problem to take care of.

:dubious:

Where you read that? Because I just read they lost some explosives on a airliner.

FNC had an excellent multipart series called ‘Eurabia’. They touched on this matter, and how various ‘hate speech’ laws somehow didn’t seem to apply when it came to moslems printing up stuff about Israel. Funny that.

Was it 350 tons of high-grade explosives? Just curious.

Is that what they sold Saddam? I didn’t know that; thanks!

Actually, it was the US that sold Saddam his chemical weapons - oh, wait, I mean dual use chemicals.

The 350 tons of explosives is what the US military let the insurgents have. You know, the ones the UN sealed and gave the US the location of. Whoops.

But I’m sure none of them have been used against us.

Some article somewhere listing a few reasons why there had not been any terrorists attacks since Septembre 11th. I’m having the hardest time finding it again, probably because it wasn’t a “OMG, we’re all gonna die!” kind of article.

While looking for it, I found this:

It would be nice if the American right-wingers would take their fucking blinders off for a moment…

Oh yeah, and while I am at it… Fuck America.

I’ll assume this is a whoosh. Or are you trying to bait me into proving you wrong by opening myself to a banning? :dubious:

I expect he means that you should now quote the law(s) in your country that forbid the three examples that you said were not allowed.

I was referring to the SDMB rules. Freedom of speech isn’t carte blanch to say whatever you want whenever and wherever you want. There are rules and laws we must all follow.

Want a cite? Go to your local theater tomorrow and yell “FIRE!” If you actually get home without being arrested, call the White House and tell them yu want to see the President dead. Why should I wade through case law to offer a cite when it’s much more effective for you to see it firsthand?

And of course, I just noticed you’re in England, glee. :smack:

I agree that the Chicago Reader (rightly) imposes restrictions on our postings. These include advertising products.
However I am perfectly free to advertise away from the SDMB.
I wouldn’t call this a restriction on free speech.

I don’t understand what you mean above by referring to the SDMB rules, then quoting an example of phoning the White House.

Where I come from, a poster who makes an assertion backs it up. it’s called ‘fighting ignorance’.

Incidentally, you do realise that, as posted above, you are encouraging me to commit an illegal act?!

You’re not going to report this are you?

Nothing listed in the OP would violate those laws.

True, if it were an American station, it’s license *might not * be renewed, but that’s a different matter. We would prefer that market slap it down by viewer boycotts and sponsors pulling their advertising.

How would conservative Canadiens react to the bombing of a Canadian broadcasting station?

And this differs from being a regular resident of Canada…how?

I also heard this discussed either on a news program or on some like Capital Gang within the last couple of days. The French have been a valuable sorce of intelligence. (It’s a good thing somebody has been.)

There is great irony in reading a thread entitled Fuck France Again only to discover that it claims to be critical of anti-racial and anti-Western publicity and commentary.

And I’ll confess I don’t have any knowledge of French broadcasting laws. What I post here is based solely on US "public speech’ laws and my non-lawyerly understanding of them.

Eh, for the hell of it, “Fuck France!” Just keep making Drakkar Noir. I love that shit!

I think it’s fair to ask for a cite on this one. AFAIK, I can wish death on anyone I want (where I american). I can say “Cousin Bob, I wish you were dead.”, and that is not a problem.

If you say it about the president to the whitehouse, well, sure the secret service is going to come down on your ass. But other than investigating you to death, tell me what they are actually going to charge you with.

Can’t find the law right now, my google-fu is weak at seven in the morning after a night of no sleep and sans caffine.

You should be able to trust this cite though. (anecdotal tangent)

Threatening the president is a federal crime

Um, FinnAgain, can you see that there’s a difference between these two statements:

“I wish you wuz dead, Cousin Bob”, and

“I’m a gonna kill you, Cousin Bob”?

Yes, I can.
I can also see how the government could interpret someone saying “I wish you were dead, Mr. President.” as a threat to the president’s life.
