Fuck Romney for politicizing the events in Egypt and Libya

Wow, its like every conservative has been instructed to post this video on various websites, even though it has nothing to do with the situation at hand. Bravo!

Well you know, conservatives have that “path-web” thing.

I think you misunderstand his post. I read it as saying Romney is criticizing Obama’s response but doesn’t have a better one.

People both online and specifically on the dope have been whinging for years about pedophilia happening in the past, despite child brides being legal in the US until pretty damned recently. There are still states that allow 14 year old girls to get married with parental permission. <shrug> People today seem more than willing to judge the past by todays standards. I just pointed out that the age of Aisha is what many people are bitching about. I personally dont give a rats ass that she was 7 when betrothed and 9/10 when consummated. I am not a follower of any particular religion, so it doesn’t get my panties in a bunch, she has been dead for 1300 years. Now if it was a current 10 year old, that would bother me.

Sorry guys, I should have been more clear. I meant this post to show how illogical the summary was of Romney’s press conference. Romney made points 1 and 2 which seem contradictory. Then when asked what he would have done differently, Romney just walks away without answer. I meant to start the post with something like “So he’s saying:” but I got distracted.

Well, Muslims seek to emulate the life of the prophet Muhammad (as Christians are called on to follow the path of Christ). For instance, the scriptural support for the niqab is that the prophet’s own wives did it, but apparently because they received undue attention when married to a controversial religious figure.

Likewise, the text influences age of consent laws in the Middle East, leading to scenarios such as this. I’m not a normative ethical relativist: I think that such scenarios are wrong in any context.

The Peace Corps, wasn’t it?

Isn’t the issue then literalism? Not an issue 1200 years old?
