I love The Onion. Real life should be like this - interest in SC cases would increase 10-fold:
Supreme Court Upholds Freedom Of Speech…
Note the closely reasoned opinion of Justice Breyer…

In a similar vein, I admired how Senator Dikembe Mutombo (R-CO) was described as leading the Republicans in blocking Democratic legislative proposals.
*
“He stuffed the new jobs bill right back in Harry Reid’s face,” Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) told reporters. “And then when Reid tried to put the bill back up for consideration, Sen. Mutombo blocked it a second and then a third time… He just completely dominates the Senate floor.”
His biggest rejection came 20 minutes into the first half of the session when 5-foot-10 Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) had his Peace Corps Improvement and Expansion Act emphatically slapped away by a leaping Mutombo. Following the rejection, Mutombo glared at Dodd from the Senate podium and said, “Get that weak-ass legislation out of my house,” in a yell that was reportedly heard in the top rows of the Senate Chamber.*
If there’s gotta be a paralysis of bitter partisan politics why can’t it at least be this cool?

The Onion is especially strong this week, even the pics (Showboating horse wins Kentucky Derby) are good.
Please forgive the highjack:
Can someone explain the latest cartoon for me? May 3, 2010
It’s sort of a general swipe at a certain kind of religious right paranoia over popular culture.
What is truly weird is that this actually sounds realistic.
On my Facebook, I’m a “fan” of both The Onion and Barack Obama. A few days ago in my news feed, there was something like “President Obama Attends White House Maintainence Staff Dinner,” or something like that.
I thought to myself, “That was nice of him.”
Then I noticed that it wasn’t from Obama. It was from The Onion.
:smack:
I laughed at that high-stepping horse until I made myself dizzy.
Then I ran across this.
And don’t forget the infamous House Un-American Activities Committee.
Currently I see our country doing the familiar 180 and, as usual, missing a healthy balance. And this time the pressure is coming from the Left with it’s insistance that those who do not think or verbalize the politically correct way must be evil.
It was inevitable, I suppose, but it’s a bit frightening to this old former Liberal that, for the second time in its history Americans are beginning to fear what they are able to say in public without result of consequences.
Human nature can be tiresome no matter which “side” it comes from.
And yes. I like “The Onion” also. No matter which side it is lampooning.
That’s pure gold right there. I would be so reviled as a SCOTUS justice. >: o)
That is entirely unrealistic.
Thomas concurring with the majority and Scalia writing the dissent? Come on!
This is excellent.
