Fuck you, Blunkett.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4029507.stm

What the fuck is this guys problem? This moron ruins absolutely everything that he touches, now he’s trying to fuck with the judicial system.

Let’s look at Big Blunkett’s proposals:

  • mandatory ID cards. Of course, the fact that Blunkett keeps changing his mind over what the ID cards are actually going to combat gives an insight into what Blunkett actually wants them for.

  • trials without juries. WHAT THE FUCK!

  • phone tapping allowed as evidence.

Blunkett’s already been defeated twice over his trial without jury, and now he states that he’ll wait till after a general election to implement it

Well I think he is pretty authoritarian, however, I have wondered for some time, why can’t we use legally acquired phone taps as evidence ?

A warrant would have to be issued, there would have to be some reasonable evidence or strong suspician with the evidence again specified, but, given that these conditions met, why should we not have phone tap evidence ?

Its already used in investigation anyway, but defining it like this would allow judicial review, it would allow proper controls, and those breaking them would be liable to prosecution, as it is we have various organisations phone tapping with less than effective control and accountability.

Much as I loathe Blunkett, the idea of having trials without juries in terrorism cases is actually an improvement of his practice of indefinite incarceration without charge for whichever non-British citizens he happens to fancy.

Blunkett is just implimenting step one in the Blair re-election plan. The population must be made fearful and helpfully pliable. Nothing erodes civil rights faster than a good excuse and a scared public. Fear is the key.

What he actually wants for them is what he really can’t say, because he knows people might wake up and decide that it’s a bad idea. The ID cards are just a means by which to create a compulsory database of private information, the purpose of which any government can change to suit their mood somewhere down the line. So we’ve had just about every hot topic floated as a problem that ID cards will solve. Blunkett’s tried every excuse he can think of, short of suggesting they are shiny and fun to collect and swap with your friends.

No matter what happens you can be sure that the database will;

A/ be abused by government and authorities contrary to any regulations for its use.
B/ be used to increase Government and commercial organisations supervision of and intrusion into citizens’ private lives.

This is what Governments do if given the opportunity.

Well, you know what they say; They wouldn’t have been charged by the police if they hadn’t been up to something! Juries just clutter the progress up.

The new one on me was the quite brilliant suggestion of placing behaviour orders on suspected terrorists. Apparently, these will be issued under civil law, defining a set of conditions on a person’s conduct; if these are breached, it’s a criminal offence, despite the fact that no offence may actually have been committed. As Blunkett cheerfully acknowledges, it’s a cunning back door to shoehorn people who haven’t committed a crime into the criminal justice system, via the civil courts.

But, of course, these sorts of powers are only going to be used against terrorists, so that’s okay.

Don’t forget his amazing religious tolerance law, where we will be forced to accept whatever psychotic messages people want to say without criticism, just because it is their religion.

On the subjects above - ID cards, how will they help fight the “war on terror”? Of course Blunkett will use that good old standby of “if you gave done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear” which is of course bollocks.

Phoen tapping may not be legal yet, but I am sure that it goes on at GCHQ. I heard that there are certain key words that trigger the recording gear, but this could have been just paranoid speculation.

Trials without juries, only one thing to say to that - Police State, once you have trial without juries, ID cards and databases, people can just be got rid of quickly and easily.

The most worrying thing of all is that the Conservatives and even the Liberal Democrats supported this punishment of suspected criminals (and anyone can be a suspected criminal.)

Talk about the blind leading the blind.

You’ve missed his best one. Drugs in the bloodstream = crime of possession.

I agree will all that has been said above.

Most other politicians are just tossers. I am actually scared by Blunket. He seesm to be untouchable by the media ( apart from Bremner, Bird & Fortune ahaha !) no matter how stupid his draconian ideas are.

Everything gets the “terrorist” or “asylum seeker” excuse.

BS i say.

I can live with the rest of the Labour party - they are doing some important stuff, but get rid of Blair and Blunket !! Please !!
