Fuck you, Joe Manchin!

I think I’ll just go for cites on this one.

  1. Cite that a majority believe this?
  2. Cite that our economic position - e.g. the unemployment rate - is poor and needs help.
  3. Cite that we have one, singular “the government” and not multiple who are in perfectly good position to do the same.

I could make a pretty good argument that if the unemployment rate is at a historic low, the stock market is booming, and everyone is fresh off buying a new house then it’s questionable that they need a lot of help.

Likewise, I could make the argument that half the country doesn’t want a handout and doesn’t believe that they’re good to do - especially if we’re in a position like the above.

And likewise, I don’t see any reason that we should believe that it’s purely the Federal government that can do anything. California, as an example, simply continued sending out checks when the Federal government stopped. It was a smooth and easy transition, to my understanding.

Cites on request, if anyone is doubtful on any of those.

Points 2 and 3 are not relevant to what I said. I didn’t say we were in an economic crisis, I said we are coming out of one. 3 is completely irrelevant because the fact that there are federal, state and local interventions that could be possible has nothing to do with whether the federal government should intervene to benefit people’s lives.

For point 1:

What are you talking about? In what way is the filibuster anything like being 95% confident in something?

Which Republican candidates did you vote for in the last election?

Aww, there you go again, taking a dig at me because I’m Canadian. It never gets old.

In your zeal to ‘get’ me, you may not have noticed I said ‘the right’, not Republicans. It might amaze you to know that we have right-wing parties in Canada as well.

If you wanted to talk about Canadian politics as tho you were involved, I’d never bring it up.

But you don’t. You want to meddle in our politics and elections, and since I oppose nearly every politician and policy you bring up, yeah, I find it annoying as fuck and will continue to remind everyone that no, you aren’t American. Your half-baked opinions, riddled with misunderstandings about America and American culture are anathema to me. The way you peddle propaganda across the border offends me. Fuck off.

Oh, and how fucking stupid are you that you didn’t see the quote box in my post and note that I carefully asked you about Republican candidates, not right candidates, so as to be sure to remind everyone: SAM STONE IS NOT AN AMERICAN.

Ahh, because you’re stupid! Now it all makes sense

No, I expect to be disappointed. Sometimes you vote for your party not because it’s going to go in the direction you want, but because it will go in the other direction slower than the alternatives.

Who cares? You are only irritated because of his ideology and your nativist rant is very hypocritical when the left has absolutely zero problems with foreign influence when it’s to their benefit.

I’ll be sure to alert the media, Don Quixote.

Clearly: I care.

No need top thank me; I’m happy to help you pull back the veritable veil of verbiage that I created.

I mean, because only an idiot would want their party to go in a libertarian direction

Lol. I guess you do. But it’s bigoted man. Where a person resides shouldn’t influence their ability to share ideas. Furthermore, the USA is still, supposedly, the most powerful and important nation in history. What happens here impacts the whole world and even though the world isn’t owed a vote they sure as hell are entitled to speak their minds about a nation that will impact their own lives.

Just as we Americans opine, often quite ignorantly, on the affairs of other nations. Sometimes we even do more than opine. We impose sanctions, drop bombs, assassinate folks, bribe, and meddle in all sorts of other manners.

I like how, to you, I’m “nativist” but others are “patriotic”.

You’re just one shitstain supporting another.

I don’t follow. I’m not sure I have ever advocated silencing people based upon country of birth or country of residence.

No, you just want to separate them from their children for going through the legal asylum seeking process…

I don’t think I’ve even advocated that either. C’mon now! Surely, I have odious views that you can highlight without needing to make stuff up.

You know reprehensible ideas on paying one’s bills, getting reasonably safe vaccines to protect one’s self from a lab leaked virus, strong support of individual liberty, prison reform, etc.

Does it suck that he’s not on board with this particular legislation? Yes. Is Joe Manchin D - WV better than Generic Asshole (or possible Insurrectionist Asshole) R - WV + having McConnell being the senate majority leader? Yes, and by a much bigger margin than the yes to the first question.

Your cite shows the BBB polled well when it was a $3.5T bill. As a $1.75T bill it polls poorly, all because popular stuff was taken out to appease Manchin who was never going to vote for it in any form.

In net, fuck you Joe Manchin: you took a reasonably popular bill and made it anathema when it was tailored to your needs, then abandoned it.

And since we’re in the pit: Sam, you mischaracterized your own cite. Again

When did Biden promise to be a caretaker President?

I think you’re overly optimistic about the “shellacking” Dems are supposed to get in '22. Off-year election losses are to be expected, but Republicans planning to enjoy a giant victory cake should know that Trump is likely to take an enormous steaming dump right in the middle of it.*
