Does anyone else think Martin Shkreli looks just like the kind of guy who would go purging?
Moderation in all things, eh 'pussy?
You people are being awfully unfair to sacks of shit the world over.
It’d be ironic if he got AIDs as a result of prison rape and couldn’t afford the pill he marked up 5000 percent.
GrumpyBunny: I believe your last sentiment was O. Henry’s first draft of “Gift of the Magi.”
Yes, and arrogant enough to not get that he’d have a target on his back bigger than the store sign if the Purge were a real thing.
Hey, idea for a sequel. I haven’t seen these movies and can’t fathom how there’s more than one, but I’d see (in the theater) a sequel with a thinly-veiled Shkreli being hunted and purged as he arrogantly thinks he’s the hunter.
My pessimistic side says this shit-stain will never see the inside of a jail. He’ll pay a fine and blah blah blah, get probation.
Damn.
I would not bet against that.
Pfffft. Arguable at best.
Check these out: Martin Shkreli? or Adam Scott as Derek Huff?
The guy reminds me of that Nevel character from iCarly. In looks and demeanor.
You know, if he were a character in movie or on TV, I’d roll my eyes. Arrogant, smarmy, punchable, stupidly evil, evilly stupid, conniving, scheming…it would seem too much.
Even his name sounds like it was made up, like Gordon Gekko.
I can’t really get behind this. This was a company doing cancer research on the verge of going under and he saved them. Even with that said, they fired him once this came out. I’m not sure what they’re supposed to do. Not work on cancer research? I just don’t see them suffering for this as an Oh Goodie moment.
What the fuck are you talking about? He didn’t “save” them. He didn’t have the resources to save them. The whole thing was just another scam on his part.
He’s the rich jerk who the female lead is about to get married to before the male lead wins her heart.
So, are you saying it’s a good thing they’re going under beccause he scammed them? Hate him or not, do you have any reason to assume their company itself was not pursuing real research? I’ve read nothing like that. I see them as victims not criminals and yeah, it’s ashamed they got burned too.
And, yes, for a time he saved them. It didn’t work long term butthey kept their doors open. What happens now, who knows?
I said absolutely nothing of the kind. I don’t know why you’re trying to put words in my mouth. I have no opinion about Kalobios. I’m just pointing out that your own comments that Shkreli’s purchase of the company somehow mitigated his own offenses are stupid.
This is total nonsense. He never saved them in any sense. His group only purchased them in November. I fail to see how going down less than two months later is any real benefit to them at all. The sale may actually have made them worse off if it prevented some less shady investor from buying them in November. Now they’re tarred with the association with Shkreli, which can’t help but hurt their possibilities of finding another investor.
I said no such thing. I was talking about from Kalobios perspective. They were the they I was talking about, not him. I don’t think them going under is an “Oh Goodie” event. Sorry, I just don’t.
The company was facing bankruptcy at the time. Their doors were closing. Had Shkreli not been a jerk they would have been very happy but he is a jerk and they got delisted and him fired. This mess isn’t their doing and again, that’s what I’ve been saying, Sorry you’re not accepting that this is my opinion. I’m not going to change it.
I’ll say it. I’m suspicious that they even have any research to speak of. Their pipeline is suspicious, and was non existent before the controversies over the past few months. Now it is filled with completely undisclosed early phase molecules with no declared mechanisms of action for very vague indications. It’s unusual to say the least.
