Okay, I’ve got it; you hate Bill Gates, cool, buy a fucking iMac. DOS is dead; get over it. I and other “micro” (figurative and literal) users were ground to a damned halt by this virus. My machine wasn’t even infected but…yesterday I recieved over 1,200 infected emails. Normally I receive about 30 legitimate messages. Mr./Ms. SoBig.f think about what you did, YOU, not Microsoft, not big government, not small government; YOU cost me and a whole lot of other small businesses an entire day of productivity that we can’t afford to lose. If you don’t have anything better to do than use your warped genius for evil, then do what I do, take a God Damned nap and leave the rest of us the fuck alone.

We’ve been slammed by it at the university I attend. It’s overloading the course management software and making it only occasionally available.
I can just about hear the servers wheezing from my apartment five miles away when I try to connect.
On top of that, I think it’s in the servers - I get huge amounts of returned mail, but I’ve run the symantec removal tool, I’ve a scan of my entire system and I am still receiving them.
Lsura, this is an example of it being more blessed to give than to receive. The virus doesn’t do anything negative to your system, but when it has latched onto your email address you get messege upon message (each one announced proudly by your anti-virus sofware, knocking you out of whatever you were in) from the infected machine disguised as another sender over and over and over again. This is what causes such frustration for you, me and everyone touched by it. In our office of (remember we are a mega-conglomerate here) seven computers, only mine was singled out because my email address is the one that is advertised (so to speak) on the internet as a contact point.
I am starting a campaign here and now. An appeal, if you will, to the lawmakers of this country. Make the punishment fit the crime, if a person is caught delivering a virus or worm with malice and forethought, the first group of disrupted IT techs who can gather themselves up after all that overtime, gets to mount up, hunt down the scoundrel, bury him, covered in honey up to his neck in an ant hill, and set his hair on fire.
I hate these peckerheads. 32 hours of fecking overtime a week for the past three. I’m gonna be too tired to spend what little money unca sam lets me keep.
I love Bill Gates. He was a guy that had an idea, put that idea into motion, made a lot of people rich, and because of him, we have Windows, good internet and the wonderful computer conviences we have today.
I could care less that he is the richest man on Earth and the God of the nerds, I wish I knew the dude in 1975.
I’ve not heard of SoBig.f. Is there a reason for referencing the iMac or is that just the solution you’re recommending for the disgruntled Windows user who wrote SoBig.f?
According to the anonymous proginater, the .f variant of the virus was targeted specifically at MicroSoft to show Bill Gates how vulnerable his OS is. That was why I suggested that if the person in question hated Mr. Gates, MicroSoft, etc., they should utilize a different OS rather than wreaking havoc on the rest of the world.
This gives a very complete description as well as links to “fixes”. The problem is that it affects non-infected machines by flooding them with emails. Hope it helps some of you keep this plague from spreading.
