Probably on the welcome to our newest member on the main page. USAMA still hasn’t posted - if his first post is something innocuous in Rue’s MMP in MPSIMS won’t grienspace be disappointed! On the other hand, he could have been writing his diatribe for the last five hours. Hmmm.
Trying to lower our reproductive rate. They should try cars with large backseats first.
Personally I prefer it when he’s making an ass of himself in his own threads as opposed to running around polluting other people’s discussions.
Post away, little grieny, post away.
This is roughly the equivalent of a Doper from Dublin seeing “Welcome to our newest member, Ian!” on the main page and posting a “Fuck you, IAN!” thread before they have a chance to post, on the assumption that the new poster is celebrating the good ( ) Reverend Paisley.
Through careful analysis of your user name, your past posts, my extensive knowledge of cryptography, and not a small dose of guesswork, I have discovered the true meaning of your username:
God-fearing Republican intending excruciating nasal stretching providing asshole Cheney excitement.
Yeah. See? We’re on to you. You’re one of them. Aren’t ya? All about abuse of the people, eh?
Of course, I note that you’re in Canada. So you’re not a Republican, obviously. Not that there’s anything wrong with it.
Anyway, pitting a user over their name when you have NO IDEA
Ahhhh. Gracias.
ahem
NO IDEA why they chose it is absolutely asinine and sophomoric. Grow up.
He had a chance to apologize and to shut the thread down, yet he pushing his ignorance further.
Tells you a lot about a person.
When I lived in Saudi Arabia, the dermatologists first name was Osama.
In SA, you have to name your children certain Islamic names, wasn’t Bin Laden one of 24 boys? You can only have a few variations of Ail, Mohammmed, Ahmend, Abdul Latif…et al. in one family.
Gracias? Is that…Arabic? :dubious: And I may add that vetbridge certainly doesn’t sound like an American name to me.
Look, it’s totally possible someone chose the name to be a jerk, but Osama/Usama is one of the most popular names in the world. Top five or ten, I think.
And while we’re at it, a hearty “Fuck You” to everyone here named Robert or Bob!*
'Cuz, you know, one of these posters might have named themselves after Robert Mugabe.
And Joe? Ben? Fuck you too!!! You dictator-loving bastards!
Hey, this is kind of fun!
Well, the Ay-rabs did occupy Spain for a while though.
FTR, Arabic for Gracias sounds a bit like “Shukran.”
Oooh, can I play???
Fuck you to those named:
Charles
Timothy
Richard
Ted
Jack
Henry
John
Randy
David
Ian
Dennis
Albert
Jeffrey
Ed
Peter
Need I go on grienspace?
Osama rivals Darius as British baby name
My screenname shows no more allegiance to Saint Paul of the Cross or Saint Paul of Thebes, it, in fact, relates to my location. The OP’s itchy trigger finger in assumption that Usama is a de facto reference to Usama Bin Laden is a bit of an embarrassment to the SDMB.
It is not advisable to be a total, fucking douchebag.
Nah. It would be an embarrassment to grienspace if he had the ability to be embarrassed. It doesn’t say a damn thing about the SDMB as a whole. The ensuing penis…er, thread, however, does. And it says good things because I don’t think there’s one single supportive response to the OP in the entire thing.
Oh please. Have you all given up the fight against ignorance ? Please don’t spew misinformation.
The name “Usama” will get you 136,000 hits on google if you specify the ommission of “bin Laden”. That is less than half the hits if you allow the name “bin Laden” to come up.
The name Mohammed will get you 4,640,000 hits.
The name “John” will get you 266,000,000 hits.
And Usama’s English equivalent “Leonard” will get you almost 7,000,000 hits.
The first time I have ever heard the name “Usama” was after September 11, 2001. I had heard of “Osama” though, which will get you almost 5,000,000 hits.
The “Usama” spelling actually came to the fore some time after September 11, as I recall, and I doubt that anyone hear knows someone who spells their first name Usama.
Now there is no doubt that USAMA might not be a jerk but there is a slim chance of that. In any case it won’t take much to clear himself and I await his posting. Furthermore, has anyone had his introduction to this board heralded in such a prominent fashion as this thread? I could be jealous.
So, you’ve proved that there are more people with European first names on the internet than with Muslim first names.
Shock! Surprise! Amazement!
Doesn’t do a damned thing to disprove Marley’s claim, though.
