Fuckin' Klein and ATCO electric shit eating FUCKS!

I just heard on the radio, Atco Electric got approval to raise our electric rates by (get this) 120% next month. Atco Gas also got approval to raise our gas rates 40%. This is on the heels of several other 2-digit rate increases for oh, every few months or so for the past 2 or so years.

Alberta, which is where a lot of the Natural Gas comes from that gets burned in many North American homes now pays amongst (if not THE highest) gas and power rates in North America, thanks in large part (if not exclusively) to our deregulation experiment.

So, it is entirely possible, if not likely, that a typical power and natural gas bill could quite easily be around $200 EACH next month! Mrs. Bernse and I live in a new, modern home with a high effeciency appliances and we watch our power usage. We’ll be looking at rates close to, if not slightly above the $200-ish each.

JEBUS-FUCKING-CHRIST ON A SNOWBOARD!

FUCK-FUCK-FUCK-FUCK-FUCKITY-FUCK!!!

Luckilly, Mrs. Bernse and I aren’t exactly scraping by, but I really have no idea how some of the people that are just scraping by will be able to afford their utility bills.

Ralph Klein, I like you, I always have (much to the disdain of left wingers in Alberta and the rest of the country). I even listened to you and tried to believe you while you were bragging the virtues of de-regulation of consumer energy in Alberta. The nay-sayers where overblowing it, what do they know, I always thought… Ralph wouldn’t lie to us after all  . This is a guy that admitted he went into a homeless shelter afterhours and swore at the bums and told them to get jobs! (And has since gone on the wagon, not that he had much choice)

Mr. Klein, while I don’t wish you and the board of Atco any harm, I sincerely hope that for each of you, your asshole moves up to your armpit and you end up shitting on your plate whenever you reach for the salt! FUCK!!!

Well, speaking for a family that is scraping by, the way we pay our utility bills that continue to skyrocket for no apparent reason is that we do without other things. Like new clothes, a car to replace the one that keeps breaking down, and we probably will never be able to afford to buy a house in the city that my husband was born in because we’re too busy running to stand still. To be sure, Atco gas and electricity price raises alone aren’t doing us in, but they’re certainly contributing to us not really getting anywhere financially.

I think the thing that bugs me the most about Alberta’s Great De-Regulation Experiment is how terribly de-regulation is doing in California. Um, Alberta politicians? Ever hear of this new-fangled thing called “research”? I did a little Google search on California’s de-regulation, and in about 10 seconds, I was able to find out what a dismal failure it was. Hmm, doesn’t seem that hard to me. (A dismal failure except for the shareholders in particular companies, I should say. The phrase “price gouging” was mentioned in the article I took a peek at. I’d like to get a look at the stock portfolio’s for Prince Ralph and his ministers.)

All of this going on in Alberta, where we need gas and electricity to stay alive, for heaven’s sake. This is not a luxury item we’re talking about here. I’ve heard that the power/gas companies aren’t allowed to shut off your heat for non-payment of bills. Maybe that’s what we should all do; just stop paying.

Well, my local retarded radio station are now saying up top 70%. I’ve about had it with this 3rd rate radio station too… the stupid fucks. My fault for believing they know what they’re talking about… I should have known better. Assclowns.

REGARDLESS - 70% is still too fucking much.

FUCKHEADS!

So, did anyone else think this was going to be a Rolling Stones-related rant?

I feel for you guys out there in Alberta. The genius scheme launched by the neo-cons in Ontario has left none of us here in a better position either. Thanks to Mr. Harris and his dumbfuck wagon of fucktards a bunch of people can’t afford their electricity bills. Luckily for me Mr. Eves has frozen electricity rates for the time being.

To those dumbfucks in office, fuck you! Not only do you assholes refuse to help students who can barely pay for university because you continue to cut back funding, but you jackasses decided to deregulate electricity rates, screwing us all up the ass again. I hope in your next life you’re thrown in a prison and your cellmate Bubba fucks you up the ass so you know it feels to get raped. Bitches!!!

I’m trying to decide whether I’m willing to swap you my Saskatchewan utility bills for your Albertan taxes…

Heh. No thanks, Gorsnak.

I hate how our utility bills have gone through the roof, but as long as we still don’t have a PST, I can at least tolorate it!

Wow, I guess that I’ll now have to trade in my manual shit eating fuck for an electric one.

Nah man, it’s a FUCK that eats ELECTRIC SHITS. Dude, I had the electric shits once. Trust me, when that happens, you wish there was some fuck around to eat them.

Isn’t the Alberta government looking to build a nuclear plant to power the industrial complex at the tar sands? If it does get built it would free up the boat load of fuel that currently powers it.

How does Klein pronounce ‘nuclear’?

Bernse: It’s still our oil. If Klein doesn’t give us an oil rebate, the money is still ours - it just goes into the provincial treasury.

So, you should separate out the fact that the oil is produced in Alberta. The bottom line is, should the government give windfall profits from high oil prices back to Albertans in the form of cheques, or should it use the money to pay down the debt or pay for government services?

The other problem with a rebate is that it’s a regressive tax cut if you base it on percentage of your energy bill. People who live in the biggest houses are typically the richest, and yet they would get the biggest tax cuts.

I personally don’t have a problem with that, but you can see where the political problems start to creep in.

Still, I think an energy rebate is still on the table, isn’t it? Probably the reason why there hasn’t been one so far is that people don’t really expect these high prices to last very long. Within the next week, if the War in Iraq ends with the Iraqi oilfields still intact I think you’ll see oil down to very low prices. Maybe within the next two or three months.

Actually, I think the idea was to build it in Saskatchewan as a favor to our eastern neighbors. No, seriously. That way we get the power, they get the hassle. We can’t lose! Needless to say, Sask isn’t terribly enthusiastic about the idea.

Sam, you betcha. I really think that rebates would help but Ralphy doesn’t want to flinch yet. However, if gas stays as high as it is he will be facing a lot of pressure. The royalites the coffers are getting off of these high prices is phenomenal. However, he’s not up for re-election for 2 or 3 more years. So your guess is as good as mine as to when exactly.

Hell yeah, Bernse, I feel your pain. When I saw my last bill I almost shit myself.

I am wondering:

Is there anywhere OTHER then fucking Atco where I can buy my gas? 'Cause those motherbuggering bastards have DOUBLED the price of gas since September and it’s STILL going up. We are students living in poverty goddamnit give us a fucking break!

I was under the impression that rebates for lower-income earners were still under debate - potentially, those who really need the help may get it.

However, I think believing Ralph was your first mistake. I actually thought he was a much more likeable guy when he was drinking, swearing at the homeless or not.

Feh.
