Another recomendation for semagic. I’ve never had any trouble with it, and I always use it. I’m not even sure if I know how to find where to post from the website anymore.

If you don’t want to download and install Semagic and use Firefox, you can use the Deepest Sender extension instead. It isn’t quite as versatile (it doesn’t notify you of flist updates or allow you to edit it either) but is still much superior to using the livejournal site itself.
Yeh, sometimes it works and other times it just eats the post. Not unlike the hamsters here, not that long ago! Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Just hit the Back button on your browser and re-submit. Or, whenever I get this error, my post is on that error page and I can re-submit from there. I’m not sure how you’re losing what you’ve written; once I’ve re-submitted my post, it appears without problem.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t work. It doesn’t go back, it just immediately goes to the error page. Grr.

Are you using IE? If so, you might try using Opera or Firefox. I use LJ on both of those (primarily Opera) and so far I’ve been able to avoid the problems you’ve seen.
I’ll right, I’m officially on board with the OP. That fucking piece of shit (LiveJournal) hasn’t let me on ALL DAY long. I made a post with a typo in it at noon, and I still can’t change it. It’s eating me up inside, I tell you. Monkey assed nutsack lickers.

Yeah, same here. I just want some information about why the problem is taking so long to fix. Back on February 9th they said “a week before we get [the new hardware], and some days after that while it’s racked and setup and tested.” That was three weeks ago, and since then…nothing. An update might be nice at this point.
Does anyone know whether, if we switch to a paid account, the problem will go away?

Most likely the “Back” button. (Seriously.) Whenever the LJ servers burp during a post, I just hit the Back button on either Opera or Firefox, and I’m back at the post page, post intact.
I’m assuming that’s what he meant.
I assume Firefox throws it in some type of cache before submitting.

If everybody else’s browser can do this, what sort of stupid pills are they feeding to the IE crew up in Redmond, that they can’t modify their browser to do it too?

And notepad is your friend. So is the clipboard. Control + A, Control + C, then hit POST.
