Perhaps that explains some of his posts in this thread …
Well gee askeptic, a judment coming from doesn’t really mean a whole lot to me given your past blustery bullshit. I can not tell you how fine I would feel standing right before you in person where we might exchange a handshake or something and we could let bygones be bygones. But I suppose that will never happen now will it. Crying shame that, just one of those little inconvienences that we men have to deal with on a daily basis. Well I guess the days not over yet, now is it?
Well the most important factor about being a smart ass is that you have to have an ass to back yourself up when your mouth gets you in trouble. Some do, some don’t – such is life on the internet.
I have no idea what you’re trying to say here. But then, this isn’t the first of your posts I’ve read that seems to be totally out of context.
It means if your going to smart off you might get punched for doing so. It’s happened to me many a time before. I know that I’m not on the intellectual level that most of the people are here but intellect is not the only measure of a persons value or mental capacity if you will. Some people believe that to be untrue but hard working men have made civilization what it is today. It all depends on your judgment of others.
Sweet Jesus. Is it a full moon out or something? You’re all idiots. Every goddamned one of you.
Huh?
Someone who was asked their opinion by some friends in a bar gave it and someone sitting nearby chose to butt in on a private conversation and complain about their opinion. There was no physical violence, or threat of physical violence, involved. There’s been a lot of discussion in this thread about whether the OP had the right to express their opinion, whether that opinion was valid, and a lot of side discussions when various posters felt that they had been insulted. But I can’t find any evidence of anyone in this thread questioning your intelligence or claiming that your opinion was less valid than anyone else’s.
Concise. Succinct. I like that.
Well you have to understand that askeptic and I have a little history together. He feels like it’s the right to do to insult people at will and I don’t. This is almost embarrassing as Ogre is just a regular guy and I don’t enjoy acting like an ass in front of those I respect, but anyway askeptic and I are the ones with the isuue here. I attempted to apologize to him before but he feels it’s his duty to come along and mess with people at will. Doesn’t bother me a bit, it’s the internet and all, so whatever.
I’m going to ask the OP to step into a bar with me and have a drink, so we can talk all about the crazy people here in America. This thread is now my cite.
We’ve skipped sublime and gone straight to ridiculous.
Dude you are certifiable. We have no history. I made fun of you ONE FUCKING time when you first signed up and were a raving jesus freak. When I realized how crazy you were I wondered off. You seemed to calm down after a while when I came across your posts. Now you’ve jumped head first back into the craziness…Keep up the crazy internet tough guy act, at least it’s funny.
And yet, here you are. Trying to start shit. I’ve noticed I’m not the only recipient of your little jabs though. I’ve noticed you sticking it to others in the past and didn’t say anything to you, but why would I? I did notice that you served our country and I thought maybe he’s not such an asshole afterall. As for your comment that I’m acting, believe what you will. You enjoy your little slice of heaven in California there and I’ll enjoy myself here in the desert. Peace be with you.
You are very welcome, Omegaman. It feels good to be appreciated.
Carson O’Genic, ‘de levende hoop’ ken ik niet. Is dat een kroeg? I’m curious now.
My husband is Danish. Those are the people who have taken flag-loving to a extreme that Americans dare not meet. Flags on birthday cakes, for Og’s sake! I am Dominican, where everything that relates to our flag is coded in the constitution. Defiling the flag *is *a crime here. We do not feel particularly surprised by American’s love, or reverence of their flag.
Now, that Pledge of Allegiance business… There was a baseball game two days ago. A bunch of children recited the pledge, followed by the national anthem. My husband looked at me and said “that feels vaguely nazist”. None of us have any animosity towards the US. None think that there is anything evil going on in the background, it’s just that this is different to us.
Yes, I know of them, even if I’m not local to Kroonstad (any more). They were a bit in the news with the Boeremag trial. Why do you ask?
I must be strange, because in my 30 years of life here in the states, I have never once said the Pledge of Allegiance.
While I agree that there is less flag waving in Europe, on my recent trip through Eastern Europe I was shocked at the amount of nationalism I encountered. It was especially extreme in Slovakia. It was kind of entertaining though because Slovaks seem to hate just about every other group in Europe.
Austria (vienna at least) is also the most racist place I’ve ever seen.
I must be getting old. I can remember saying it in grade school for sure. I’m a freakin’ dinosaur!
The way I worded that was probably a little misleading, sorry. They used to say it in the morning when I was in elementary school occasionally, though certainly not every day. I never took part though and no one ever said anything about it. Half the time the teacher was the only one saying it. I have absolutely never heard it recited anywhere in my adult life.
So at least America isn’t any worse than former communist states now run by criminals!
Is there any race conflict involved here?
In the main though I agree with you. While I agree it’s all very well to respect our history and traditions, and the things which the flag is supposed to stand for, the idea of standing up when somebody marches by holding a flag seems just a bit too much, as does reciting the Pledge and placing your right hand over your heart.
Seeing as we decided we don’t like having a monarch, it seems odd that anybody would want to perform physical courtesies to a flag.
