Internet constantly for 10 years. TV sporadically depending on whether my wife is pregnant or not.
I’m also in the Chicago suburbs and I never have internet problems with Comcast. Every time my internet is slow or isn’t working properly, I look around and find out it’s my shitty Linksys router that’s causing all the problems. Once I get everything rebooted, my connection is back up to normal. I run somewhat regular tests at speedtest.net and I’m always above the average speed. Am I lucky or something?
It’s expensive, yeah, but I usually just call them and ask whomever I get on the phone what promos are available. They search to see what I’m eligible for and then list out my options. I can’t remember a time when I was paying full rate, I’m usually saving somewhere around $30 a month. They even tell me that when a certain promo will expire and encourage me to call again around that time to see what other promos I’m eligible for.
Echoing what has already been said-but 250 gb isn’t a hard cap at all. I’ve blown past that mark numerous times and never got so much as a email about it. I honestly don’t know why they even mention the “limit”.
You’re lucky.

Hmm…maybe they have decided to put some teeth into it.
You might be, or maybe I was unlucky. I got shitty results whether I had their equipment or a not-so-shitty storebought router. I had to reboot the router at least once a day to simply recover from Internet connection drops. And the only way I saved money was to start dropping channels. The $150/month was after getting rid of all movie channels. Or, maybe they started getting worried after UVerse came in - we were in an area before where the only competition was DirectTV, and now UVerse comes along and gives more competition for them. For better service, double the DVR recordings, and 2/3 of the price, I’m good with switching.
Perhaps.
I live in Chicago in a high density population area. Perhaps that is the difference.
I will say everywhere I have lived in the city (always an apartment or multi-unit condo) the service was pure shit. The picture quality of TV was crap and it frequently went out (couple times a month on average). Of course any time some work on the lines needed to be done for one person they could affect a whole apartment block in one go.
Also, internet speeds sucked because at the least the whole apartment was on one ring. It got kinda like this.
