Fucking maskholes and vaxholes

And it keeps on going…

This is what bothers me the most. That here come several more months of people harassing and mocking anyone who decides to continue masking, basically daring them to do anything about it.

And then once people stop, there’ll be incessant mocking of that fact.

Assholes will be assholes. The people who face the greatest risk of having to deal with a confrontation are going to be lowly wage earners who will be asked to enforce their company’s policies on masks. It’s impractical for many customer-facing businesses now. I wish the CDC would have waited a little while longer but there’s probably no going back now.

I’m just hoping we can arrange some sort of anti-mask anti-vax RW-nonsense enthusiast rally with a hundred thousand frothing screamers all in a single rented indoor sports arena. With lots of chanting. And maybe even some drumming.

Then wait 2 weeks and watch Mother Nature reinforce the reality that Darwin ain’t no mere “theory” = “inconvenient opinion”. It’s a real theory, as in makes predictions that reliably come true. One of which is that uncompetitively stupid examples of any given species generally won’t live long enough to breed.

Who said I did? I replied back to point out that I don’t even watch CNN and got my facts straight from the actual scientists, and some Christian stuff I won’t go into. I then disable reply noticiations and don’t expect to ever talk to them again.

As I said, I do believe we have to at least try. Someone has to challenge their beliefs. Maybe for one of their friends, my post was the one to get through.

Maybe I’m weird, but I always give a parting attempt.

It’s the “parting” part that wasn’t clear from your earlier posts, at least to my reading which sometimes lacks thoroughness.

Given what you just added, I can’t say you could have done it better any other way. Bravo!

The best we (all) can do is point out to the horse that the water is over there, they’re walking (galloping?) the other way now, and soon enough they’ll be thirsty. Once they show they’re clearly uninterested in listening, their future trajectory is not (and cannot be) your concern. Best to disengage on a grown-up note and flip the “ignore” switch. The alternative is just anger for/from them and madness as in insanity for you.

I suppose you could try pointing out that supporting Trump makes them whited sepulchres, but that probably wouldn’t go over well.

I’ve not used those words, but I have made a similar argument on Facebook. I phrase it as being about how outsiders can see that their stated beliefs and actions don’t match, and thus think we’re all faking our beliefs.

I am a lot more bold using it about antimaskers, though, than mere Trump voters, unless they’re full on supporters support hateful things. I also have several posts where I don’t specify who the people are who are being hypocrites.

If you phrase it the right way, you can come off as being concerned and not as hatefully attacking any specific people. And I actually get Amens out of it.

Two problems with this idea:

  1. If you let the idiots leave, they can still spread the virus to others who aren’t hopeless idiots.
  2. They won’t die in sufficient numbers to make much impact on the gene pool, and many of them will likely have already reproduced.

I say let them do whatever they want, but make sure they don’t leave.

Welcome to the Hotel Covidnation.

“We are programmed to deceive.
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave!”

A third problem:

  1. The horrifying results of the irresponsible people’s ‘Virus-Mutationpalooza’ will fall on the shoulders of health-care workers.

This is what the CDC apparently declined to consider: the anti-vaxxers will take off their masks along with everyone else, letting the virus “rip” and in the process, probably, mutate. And some of them will get sick and some of them will infect people who haven’t yet been able to get vaccinated (due to health issues or inability to take time off work to deal with potential side effects, or due to age). And the hordes of the newly-sick will hit the health care system.

Conceivably mutated viruses that incubate in the anti-vax anti-maskers could impact kids under 12 in particular. All of whom are vulnerable now.

The CDC’s policy relies on everyone behaving honorably and honestly. And that’s not going to happen.

(Covid man arrives at hospital gasping)

Doctor “What’s his vaccination status”
Nurse: “Unvaccinated”
Doctor: “Does he have any underlying health conditions preventing vaccination? Was he unable to be vaccinated for any reason?”
Nurse: “No, he says he just didn’t want to”
Doctor: “Put him in Ward B. The Assholes with Covid Ward. Give him a tylenol and a pen to write his last will.”

Dammit, I go back into the office tomorrow, and I don’t know if I should wear mask(s) or not. Corporate hasn’t issued any guidance, and even though I’m fully vaccinated, there are quite a few maskholes and anti-vaxxers. In some departments, people have gotten so bad that not only do they refuse to wear masks, they also refuse to cover their faces when coughing or sneezing. I’ll definitely still wear a mask in that part of the building, at least.

Yes, I’ve observed a disturbing trend for the conservatives all trapped in their bubble worlds reversing all the criticisms against them and claiming it’s the liberals with those problems.

Calling CNN a fount of lies and brainwasher - while worshipping at the door of Fox and worse.

Saying that Biden is a perpetual liar - while adulating the orange clown still saying the election was rigged.

Telling liberals they are the ones who need mental help - while spewing Qanonsense about Dems being pedophiles.

Saying AOC is stupid and crazy - while backing Boebert, Gaetz, and Greene.

I’ve managed to alienate 1 Trump cousin and have another who never even added me to his connections, because I’ve been a bit aggressive in responding to the negative tripe they spew.

Yeah, I’m currently on leave so I don’t have to deal with this mess, but I don’t look forward to returning and having to deal with other employees - much less customers - annoying me about mask-wearing.

ASSHOLES! Glad they can reveal themselves so easily, so I can reduce my interactions with them.

It will only feel wrong until you want to reread one of these beauties. Or turn a friend onto Elmore Leonard.

SOME stupid examples are evidently living long enough to breed.

Where are you getting this “all we needed to do” part? At no point did the CDC jump in and provide useful information to anyone. We got all our information from scientists and experts, not the CDC. Here’s the general gist of how it goes:

  1. Scientists study some facet of the virus or disease, publish their data.
  2. Other experts read it, perform similar studies.
  3. The press tells the public. The public says “Well that makes sense.”
  4. The CDC says that’s probably not true, then about 6 weeks later concedes it is true.

Remember in the beginning when the CDC said we didn’t need masks, even though countries way ahead of us on the timeline were using them and saying they were necessary? Then when masks were in plentiful supply, suddenly they were recommended? The same goes for outdoor transmission, aerosol spread, fomite transmission…the whole series of scientific progression.

Let’s call a spade a spade. CDC policy isn’t science-based. It’s policy-based. Its stance is based solely on what they think will get the most people to do whatever it is they want them to do at that moment. The you-don’t-need-a-mask thing was not because you didn’t need a mask, but because they didn’t want a run on critical supplies. The current if-you’re-vaccinated-you-don’t-need-a-mask guidance isn’t because if you’re vaccinated you don’t need a mask. It’s because vaccination rates are slowing down, so they want to dangle a reward to boost the numbers. Make no mistake, if a survey showed people would get vaccinated if they heard dinosaurs were attacking Des Moines, then the next day, Fauci would be on TV saying “There’s a strong chance dinosaurs are eating Iowans at this very moment.”

They aren’t offering science, they’re offering a carrot. If you think there was suddenly some sort of study published that really clinched the finding, you’re mistaken. The CDC is a public administration body; it responds to what the public does, not what “education and research” appears.

You’re a fucking classic Trumpy. Why do you think it changed?

Trumpy? Because I’m smart enough to realize why the CDC does what it does? OK Comrade. You disagree with me, so you must be my political enemy. How’s Stalin’s dick taste?

Why do I think it changed? Where the fuck was I unclear, asshole?

Smart enough? You’re the one who couldn’t figure out a subway fare or how payroll works.

It’s real simple, masks were in short supply as medical personnel needed all they could get because they were dealing with an overwhelming number of dying patients( in some cases dying themselves) while ungrateful pond scum like you called them liars.
