Tickets went on sale last Friday for Tom Waits, live at the Hammersmith Apollo in November. Better believe I wanted to see that, but 70 fucking quid?! Someone’s taking the piss. Sold out straight away too.
General price for tickets there is anywhere between £15 -£30. Why the hell are they so much? I realize its the first time he’s played over here in about 12 years, but come on!
Fucking greedy music venues and management. While we’re at it, they always charge ridiculous prices for shitty lager/beer in plastic cups too. Or worse still, cans of Carling, where everywhere seems to be sponsored by now.
I think the bolded sentence answers your question. Why should it be surprising that they would charge what the market would bear?
And if they sold out right away, they would have sold out even faster if they were cheaper, and you still probably wouldn’t have gotten to see the show.
Still, I wouldn’t dispute your right to feel pissed off.
True. The Apollo is a 5000 capacity venue too. So that’d be £350,000 off one show. My point is, I’ve seen bigger and more popular bands sell for at lot less at bigger arenas. I’m calling shenanigans that people have to pay twice as much for someone who doesn’t come around very often. The reformed Pixies tickets were going for £35.
I’d hate to think what TW tickets are going for on eBay
