Fucking Morons Still Trashing Buzz

I think it was Neil Armstrong who said that it would be easier to go to the moon than to successfully fake doing so.

Oh boy. Join date August 2015, all posts exclusively to this thread and topic in the last day and a half.

Probably was Google searching looking for any references to the issue and rode in upon finding that we had a thread on the topic here.
And Jesus on rollerskates, the dismissive arrogance! Not even attempting any sort of sustainable argument for his point, just waving it all off. I think that’s the thing that most ticks me off about some of the conspiracist crowd.

Since the US Space Program began over 60 years ago, I think it meets the “couple decades” mark.

“I can see Russia from my house!”

JUST KIDDING! I’m completely on your side here. The denialists are fucking insane. I’ve had the joy of reaching out and touching the Apollo 9 command capsule. The idea that it was a fake is insane.

Thousands of chemists and geologists have done tests on the returned Lunar soil samples. You’d have to add all of them to the list of participants in the hoax. Not a single one of them has ever come forward to say, “This is just ordinary dirt, picked up from a field in New Mexico.”

It’s like the joke about the guy who’s in his car and hears a news report about a car going the wrong way on the freeway. “One car? Hell, there are thousands of them!”

So you saw the alleged moon landing images on a grainy black and white television like everyone else, then, whilst Nixon was strutting around like a peacock proclaiming to the world America’s scientific brilliance, so it must be true, right?

[QUOTE]

Black and white? We had color TV by then, and we weren’t rich by any means.

Yes, I too was alive then, and watched the moon landings on TV. My grandma worked for Rockwell North American as it was known then, helping build the space capsules.

Were you alive back then? 1969 was not exactly the Middle Ages, we had lots of sciencey stuff back then. :smack:

I highly doubt Dipshit Denning was alive back then.

Anyone else notice that this account was created yesterday and hasn’t posted in any other threads?

Post 102.

There’s only one moon hoax thread and this is it.

The fellow seems to be rather focused.

So, JD, what’s your views on 9/11? I think it was filmed by Michael Bay and all the alleged tower victims are happily living in Canada. NYC wanted a bigger building and Muslims wanted a monument, so they tricked the federal government.

This is one of the things that gets me about these people, at least the ones who weren’t alive back then. They seem to think that the 60s was some ignorant unadvanced era that couldn’t have possibly done such a thing. A lot of what we have today that we didn’t have then is just the result of putting together the necessary infrastructure rather than any dramatic new knowledge.

We had the math to plot spacecraft courses (since Newton for cripes sake).
We had the computing ability to do the necessary inflight calculations. Fancy operating systems and GUIs weren’t necessary, and really still aren’t for dedicated applications.
We had the rocket power to do the heavy lifting.
We certainly were able to manufacture hermetically sealed containers.
We’d been doing large scale engineering for a long long time before that.
We’d been working with large scale high speed aerospace applications for decades.
We had the life support capabilities.
We had radio communications and telemetry capabilities.
We understood about radiation and the need for shielding.
We could create vacuums in which to test equipment.
We had heating and cooling technology.

I don’t understand what they think we were missing.

I’ve decided that this is not a moon-landing-was-a-hoaxer. He hasn’t attempted to demonstrate even the least little bit of evidence, as most of our beloved CTers attempt to. He’s just insulted everybody.

I think this is just one of those people who is very familiar with the SDMB, and is doing a poor to fair job of trolling.

People who are wrong about facts, and arrogant about it, make me nuts. They act like you’re the one who’s stupid and gullible and there’s no convincing them of the obvious wrongness of their position. I want to grab them and shake them (I don’t, but damn, the urge is there).

I think the worst two are moon hoaxers and 9/11 truthers. I can have a conversation with a JFK conspiracist, for some reason they don’t bother me so much, maybe because it’s an almost respectable belief. But moon hoaxers and truthers are beyond the pale in their arrogant stupidity.

I suspect he meant that the video from the LEM was black and white, and didn’t express himself well.

whispers He’s not very smart you know…

Actually, the video was in color, it’s just the moon was still B&W.

So says Calvin’s Dad.

There are way too many posts here for me to respond to. It would take me all day so just picked this one. And I’ve already concluded there are a lot of kids posting on this thread who have been brought up from birth, literally, to believe that the moon landings did happen, just as they most likely believe that there is an entity in the sky watching over all of us.

I have this to say about the moon landings. I have no doubt that rockets were blasted into space, and the spectacular footage of this happening is there for all to see, just as it was witnessed by so many. But I do believe that the rockets were unmanned. I believe that the landing/s were filmed here on Earth, and I say this with absolute certainty.

There is only one way this debate is ever going to be resolved, and that is when another country successfully puts men on the moon and reveals that there is no evidence of anyone having been there before. (And no, those tiny dots on a picture of the moon’s surface with arrows indicating what they are doesn’t count.) I’m talking about someone standing next that flag, which of course won’t be there.

I also believe that faking the footage was one of the biggest mistakes America ever made, because of the ramifications should the truth ever be revealed. In fact, I’m sure you’re all aware of the extremely grave potential for cultural shock and social disorientation contained in this present situation, if the facts were prematurely and suddenly made public without adequate preparation and conditioning.

Kubrick left a trail of clues as to his involvement in filming the moon landings here on earth, and there’s also a clue of my own contained within this particular post for anyone with an eye for detail.

Again, everyone is free to believe what they want. I just find it sad, that’s all, that the elite have so much control over the humble masses.

JD

You could just say what makes you believe the landings never happened.

Looks to me that you haven’t really thought this out or you would have answered some of the direct questions. Rather, you just took for granted that a few crackpots are right rather than examining the evidence with an informed eye.

Reminds me of what Lewis Black said about North Korea. “Have you ever wondered why all the film showing things in North Korea is black and white? It’s not the film!

Oh, and FWIW, plenty of us were out and around walking the Earth in the 1960s and 70s. And at various point in that period, twelve men were out and around walking the Moon. And others were going around the Earth in support of that mission.

By this fellow’s standards none of us should believe anything we’re seeing and hearing and reading NOW just because it comes to us filtered through content providers. Cripes, the war against ignorance is going to really be a Forever War…

Yet you offer not the slightest bit of evidence for your belief. Which means it is you that is full of shit, not everybody else.
