Well, even a blind squirrel finds some nuts. Dude has a point.
The only reason I can think of is that when most people hear “Bob Casey”, they think of the former PA governor, the current candidate’s father. Which, of course, is a plus for Casey Jr. Santorum probably wants to make sure no one thinks of that, perhaps?
Was it? blush sorry bout that. Still, I think it’s incredibly arrogant for anyone to believe that with everything going on in the middle east, the senatorial race of any state is important enough to garner more than a passing comment.
Or perhaps she meant Al Gore.

Shodan
You’re so cutely reliable!
Daniel
Sooo, (asking now what I asked then) Did Michael Dukakis personally approve Horton’s furlough? Or just the program, based on the fact that integration into society after release from prison causes a much lower rate of recidivism? Oh, I know! He sold him the knife! Run along, little troll.
I think Shodan was referring to this line from his link:
I love how he accuses other posters of being dishonest, knee-jerk hypocrites. It’s adorable!
Daniel
No, I was talking about these lines -
Which is an opinon shared by that notorious right-wing liar
Too bad you missed it, but that, of course, is because you are stupid and dishonest.
Actually, you didn’t ask anything of the sort in this thread. You mischaracterized a campaign strategy that Al Gore originated.
And said that anyone who was misled by it was stupid, but that was too soft a pitch to be interesting, so I let you slide on that one.
Anyway, enough correcting of the more obvious dolts in the thread. On to a new batch of dishonesty, mischaracterization, and stupidity from the Uusual Suspects.
Regards,
Shodan
I was in PA last weekend, and heard a couple of Casey ads exposing another bit of Santorum sleaziness – it seems that his English-language Web site says that we need to seal the borders and kick out the illegal aliens as of yesterday, but his Spanish-language one takes a, shall we say, more nuanced position on the issue.
What a cynical :wally
It might be an urban myth, but I read years back that Strom Thurmond first got elected while calling his opponent a “practicing homo sapiens” with a sister who was a “thespian”.
You’re so cute!
Daniel
Nah, it was George Smathers of Florida who allegedly used that sort of language against Claude Pepper. Wikipedia does say it’s an urban legend, though.
Robin
No, dear. This thread wasn’t around when the ad came out, which was when I originally asked the question. pat, pat. Off you go, now. I hear someone trip-trapping across your bridge.
Nope, he’s equally racist in both languages.
Be careful how you wish for anything…
At least it wasn’t a double-post by your own self…
Damn, I cannot figure out how they got Shodan-bot to function. Only some combination of words seem to make it ejaculate a drive-by tu quoque of complete fiction. Is he a Microsoft product?
Can you quote the section(s) where he’s being racist?
I rise on a point of disorder, to seek consensus.
We are recently witness to a sudden uptick in the Tighty Righty Fountain of Disinformation. Swiftys going after Murtha. An altered tape that purports a Dem Congressman as a Hezbollah supporter (Dingell of MI). Republicans funding Green Party candidates (a pure gesture of civic virtue, no doubt…)
Might we be wise to let this be the “catch-all” thread for slimy crud oozing from the pestilential pie-hole OR alternatively
Open a new thread as each and every of these droll crumbs of malignancy drop into the public discourse.
One the one pod, it may be that, individually, these are pin-pricks from needle-dicks, of insufficient moment for anything so grand as an SDMB thread. Lean over the curb, puke once, and forget it.
On the other hand, it looks like the Pubbies are bringing in the sheaves, a bumper crop of mendacity. Between now and The Day of ReConning, one thread might be running to absurd lengths, with predictably absurd results. (“Well, asshole, your post on page 6 was succinctly answered by mine on page 15, which you entirely ignored in your post on page 26 troll, troll, troll. Troll.”)
Whaddaya think, pals and gals?
Yeah, sure. Here you go. . .
I completely concur with the first sentence. The entire rest of this is nothing but a racist response to illegal Mexican immigration. And while I don’t deny that it’s a problem, I do think it’s racist to focus one’s immigration stance on one and only one nationality of illegal immigrants. Why doesn’t he want to crack down on the Asian illegals with as much artillery and manpower? The “who” who’re entering our country illegally consist of plenty more than just Latinos, yet those are the only ones he seems to want to keep out. Why doesn’t he address heightened security at our ports, where stowaways from other nations are sneaking into our borders? Why doesn’t he suggest better checks and follow-through on students from countries all over the world overstaying their legal visas? No, he just wants to build a wall between us and one country in particular to keep out the Mexicans.
I contend that this is racist, as well. Others are free to disagree, which you may very well. But you won’t sway my opinion just because you don’t see the racism I do.
Defend American Culture?? What American Culture? Defend it against what? Are we going to have a War on Culture now, too? Absolutely racist! And disgusting.
And just to stave off the inevitable hijack, I refuse to get into a debate about illegal immigration in this thread, so don’t bother hunting down statistics or cites about the various rates of illegal immigration among various nationalities, their impact on society, etc. You might have some really great points to make (and believe it or not I might agree with you WAY more than you know). However, this thread is about Rick Santorum and his sleazy ways. I’m calling him a racist and showing support for how I come by my opinion. Any veering from that direction and I won’t follow, just so you know. Thanks.
Wow. So Santorum is “slimy”, but it’s A OK to call someone a racist, put up some very weak support for that claim, and then announce that you refuse to discuss it anymore. Yes, this thread is about Santorum. I don’t agree with a lot of his politics, and his religiosity creeps the hell out of me, but I don’t think he’s a racist. So, if you don’t want to sidetrack this thread into whether he is or is not a racist, then you shouldn’t bring it up. If you do, you should be able to support it a lot better than you did. Alternatively, you can always retract it.
