Fuel Additives

I recently put a bottle of Techron in my tank.

The bottle says use every 3000 miles

If I feel like wasting my money and buying another bottle and putting the additive into the engine in succcessive tanks of gas, will that do any damage? basically, can you overdose on the stuff?

Thanks all!

Techron is a polyether amine used to clean injectors and the fuel supply system in general. It burns along with the fuel in the engine.

If you feel like splurging you can put Techron in each and every tank of gas you buy or “follow the directions on the heel” aka can or other container of the stuff.

Figure out the cost per gallon of Techron vs. the cost of fuel as an exercise in math to see that following the recommended usage is best from a cost and cleaning viewpoint.

In my humble, but reasonably educated, opinion most additives are a waste of money. They won’t hurt, but most won’t help with anyting either. There are few exceptions (like octane boost for an older/higher compression engine), but most aren’t worth the expenditure.
