full frontal nudity on TV- who will be the first?

Its gotta be either Harvey Keitel or Kate Winslet (AKA the Nakedest Folks in Show Business – Harvey FFN in Bad Lieutenant and The Piano, Kate barin’ it all in Jude (I think Titantic was a body double though) and they were nekkid together in “Holy Smoke.”)

I’ll agree with Keitel (I loved the joke about his penis in Mad About You) but I’d nominate Greta Sacchi as “Nakedest Actress”. Despite being a serious dramatic actress, she’s done nude scenes in pretty much every movie she’s made.

I remember Perrine’s appearance in Steambath (it made a big impression on me at the time). Topless, but not full frontal. If I recall correctly, Perrine’s never done any full nude scenes.

On the subject of MTV’s choice of videos, I think they missed a lot of obvious choices. It appears their standard was “videos by major acts we’ve promoted in the recent past that we considered offensive, but not so offensive we wouldn’t be willing to play them once or twice for publicity.”

Playboy Channel used to have a show called Hot Rocks back around 1990. It featured videos that MTV wouldn’t show because of nudity. The Red Hot Chili Peppers did the full monty in some of their early videos. And the original version of Duran Duran’s Girls on Film had two nude girls oil wrestling.

And don’t forget the icecube on the nipple… slowly, no less. This was the "night"version of the video. The “day” version played on MTV. This was around 1984?

well, it probably won’t happen for at least 30 years or more (read: never) if you’re talking network. if you think about it, before we got the pleasure of seeing a fat old man’s bare butt (franz) we were promised “nudity” in the pre-season. now, i don’t know about you, but showing anybody, male or female, who is fat and old DOES NOT QUALIFY AS REAL NUDITY. at least not the kind that people want to watch on a tv show. iirc, around 1972, cbs was talking big about showing an x-rated show (called “the damned” i believe) and they did not ever bother to show it. let’s see…30 years, and we have progressed to dennis franz…hmmmm…better get cable.

A former cow-orker of mine SWEARS that there was FF Female Nudity on NYPD blue several years ago and actually gets mad if you try to tell him otherwise.

Peter Firth showed everything, repeatedly and for long periods of time, when “Equus” was shown on PBS in the "80s. Definitely not for “educational” purposes.

“Holocaust” in 1978 had plenty of dorsal, but no FF.

Kate didn’t use a body double in Titanic. She had a stunt double-but that’s it.

I hope it’s ER. Luka or Carter. mmmmmmm…LUKA AND CARTER ARE HOT!!!

when will western culture learn that nudity != sexuality

It’s as if my post wasn’t even there . Schindler’s List was broadcast on NBC back in 1997, complete with full frontal nudity. Here’s a kinda amusing cite.
