FullMetal Alchemist: New Episode Tonight?(!)

Not to get anyone’s hopes up, but I heard that the new season debuts tonight (well, technically tomorrow) at midnight. The Cartoon Network and Adult Swim websites aren’t much help. Still, the show is back on Saturday and is followed by Samuari Champloo. That’s a good sign. Even if both are repeats they’re both good programs.
Please don’t stone me if I’m wrong.

Really?? I know that a second season (!!!) is coming, but I don’t know when. I don’t have the Cartoon Network here… :frowning: I guess I’ll just have to wait a bit…

Don’t worry. I won’t stone you. Poison’s a lot easier.

According to my digital cablebox, it does seem that they’re starting it up again where they left off. (About goddamn time)

“Justice League” also seems to be starting it’s new season tonight, BTW. Excellent.

I was going to tape it, but I’m not even caught up with the old stuff yet.

I just noticed. Nice advertising Cartoon Network.

Technically third season. You can tell what season is which by the ending song. The hiatus came after the first issue of the third season. This is the contuination, hopefully all the way to the end of the series.

In theory the opening theme should change along with the ending song though the series, but they are sticking with the second season opener (READY, STEADY GO!). That’s too bad because a) the other songs are good too, especially the fourth season and b) its’ getting weird to see (spoiler from last season)

Maes alive and kicking in the opening.

As for this episode: nice to see new stuff. Nice to see why Ed and Al are frightened of their teacher and where they get their l33t fighting skillz. Looks like we’re getting more backstory next episode too. Cool!

Could someone explain what this is about? Because I’ve yet to decypher what FMA is about, beyond they’re magicians and they’re losing body parts or something.

Sure, Ed and Al are both alchemists. Their magic is somewhat reliant on an “equal trade” principle, where to create something, they have to destroy something with the same materials. Theoretically there’s a gate where all the destroyed stuff goes to . No one knows what’s behind the gate.

Their mother died, and they tried to resurrect her using alchemy. They screwed up, and she got brought back as an abomination/zombie and in the process Al loses his entire body, and Edward lost his arm and leg binding Al to the armor.

They beleive they can get Al’s body back if they find the philosopher’s stone, aan artifact that helps their magic/alchemy. I order to get help finding it, they join the military, and get caught up in the struggles of the somewhat morally dubious government.

I thought Edward lost his arm and leg during the same accident, that cost Al his body.

Ed lost his leg to by trying to bring back their mother, and his arm by tying Al’s soul to the armor. Same night, but two different transmutations.

Ah, thanks.
