No he didn’t, he knows I’m Catholic.
Hey, he’s spreading the stupid into other threads! Neat.
Ignore him, Sarahfeena, he’s just pissy over getting his ass kicked in this thread.
Go away, little boy.
Yeah, I was reading that thread…just trying to let him know that his theory is incorrect.
Hey, I left my parents home when I was 19, many many years ago.
Yes, I’m afraid I must. I hope I will never pass up an opportunity to dump on the God of Israel – as a person, I mean, quite apart from the value (and they do have some value) of the Yahvist religions that worship him. Even if he exists, he is unworthy to be worshipped or obeyed as God. I consider this something of a spiritual duty that goes beyond mere snarkiness, for reasons I can explain at length, but not without hijacking my own thread even further.
I’m sure they were thrilled to be rid of you, too.
(That’s the best you can do?)
The last time I remember returning one of your cheap shots at me, I was accused od being insensitive.
I have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about, nor do I care to get into a little pissing-match/hijack.
Oh sure. Once I start firing back your cheap shots you want to quit. Now don’t go crying to Mommy.
If you say so.
Back on topic-BrainGlutton, you do realize that makes you no better than those you condemn?
I truly said so.

Well, then that’s settled.
He has a point. The God presented in Christian texts seems to have undergone a great deal of personal growth since He started bossing around an obscure bunch of desert shepherds. Maybe just had trouble expressing himself.
Take my son up the mountain and do what to him? Hey, Lord of Hosts, screw you!
Till next time.
It is interesting to me…no one in this thread has been proselytizing, except, it seems, BrainGlutton.
Because I condemn the Lord God of Israel, I am better than those who worship him. Western religion has been on the wrong path ever since the day Father Abraham chose his God over his son. That episode is often called “the testing of Abraham.” So it was, but Abraham did not pass that test, he failed it.
I think you missed Guin’s point.
No. No, I didn’t. I am making a point based on moral judgments based on the Scripture. I am not speaking of any abstract philosopher’s God (see *The WHYS of a Philosophical Scrivener* by Martin Gardner), for whom I have infinite respect; but upon a single God who is the product of a particular cultural tradition and who can only be known through the Scripture of Judaism, Christianity and Islam; and I justly and righteously make a moral judgment upon and condemn that God, as all good and decent people should. To serve or worship or obey that God cannot save your soul but can only damn it; and if ye would be saved, come out of them, and be ye separate!
Please understand, I am not, here, speaking in terms of scientific rationalism vs. traditional revelation-based faith, I am making moral judgements on God as he is described in the Scriptures. I am making a judgment in spiritual, not scientific, terms. And on those terms, the God of Israel is a abomination and there can be no worse sin or evil than serving him.
I acknowledge that the Jewish, Christian and Islamic faiths can indeed inspire their followers to do good and righteous things in the real world. Sometimes. Or the contrary. But when I see Jews, Christians or Muslims worshipping the false and evil and abominable God who is at the core of their shared faith, I feel the same revulsion and outrage Elijah must have felt at the worshippers of Ba’al, and with much better justice.
I understood your point, but what point was it that you think Guin was trying to make?
