An old friend died. Haven’t seen much of her in recent years. Was going to go to the funeral, but the paper says ‘no visiting hours.’ It does say a memorial service will be held. Is that supposed to indicate the memorial service is just for the family and not non-relatives? Not sure if I should go or not. Or does that just mean there is no wake?
I’d guess that means no wake. Why don’t you call the funeral home or whatever and ask?
No wake, and no body at the service. Probably means the deceased went straight to cremation.
The way I interpret that is that any services in the immediate period after the death (wake, visitation, funeral, etc.) will be family only, but later there will be a public memorial service which you can attend to pay your respects.
