Funny book titles.

What book titles did you find the funniest? My favorites are “Historia de un Idiota Contada por él mismo” (An idiot’s story told by himself) by Felix de Azua followed by “The War of Don Emmanuel’s Nether Parts” by Louis de Bernières. Another favorite is Will Cuppy’s “Rise and Fall of Practically Everybody”.

Civilization (And Its Part In My Downfall), by Paul Quarrington.

Bimbos of the Death Star and Zombies of the Gene Pool, both by Sharyn McCrumb. Apologies if I’ve mangled either title, I can’t seem to get any book-related site to load today.

The Partly Cloudy Patriot by Sarah Vowell.

I’ve always liked The Grass Is Always Greener Over The Septic Tank by Erma Bombeck.

Unix in a Nutshell

It’s Bimbos of the Death Sun.

Fantasy author Patricia A. McKillip has some great ones.

The Throme of the Erril of Sherill
The Harrowing of the Dragon of Hoarsbreath
The Alphabet of Thron

I’m currently reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon.

And to My Nephew Albert I Leave the Island What I Won Off Fatty Hagen in a Poker Game

Gah. I knew I’d mess it up.

I have cable internet and I still couldn’t get Amazon or BN.com to load.

And of course we wouldn’t want to forget The Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death.

Then there’s The Neighbors are Scaring My Wolf by Jack Douglas.

And, while it’s not a book, wacky titles should include a reference to Doctor Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.

$ HELP! I'M IN A NUTSHELL! WHAT KIND OF MASSIVE NUT HAS A SHELL LIKE THIS?

Anyway, I was at a bookstore today and saw two books right next to each other: “Why Cats Paint” and “Why Paint Cats”.

Sir Apropos of Nothing, and the sequel, The Woad to Wuin, are both worth reading.

Apocalipstick

I was thinking of the homonym.

Erm… Okay, ‘Unix’ and ‘eunochs’ aren’t really homonyms; but they’re close enough.

Heisenberg Probably Slept Here by Richard P. Brennan.

The Joy of Sects.

Although, I seem to be the only one that finds that one funny.
