Funny things your pets do

My husband’s cat is the most un-cat-like feline I have ever seen!!! Zoe likes to have her belly rubbed. She allows you to make very odd faces with her, such as the “high-speed face” (pull back on ears - looks like she’s on a roller coaster) and the “little Dutch kitty” (fold ears down like a Scottish fold…I guess that makes that the “little Scottish kitty”). But the most UN-cat-like thing is…

She plays fetch. She learned by watching my husband’s ferrets (which he no longer has, thank God) and will pester you for HOURS to throw the dammed wadded-up receipt. She will actually drag the 16 inch long grocery store receipt out of the trash and into the living room for you to throw. She will bring you ANYTHING she thinks will work - such as hair ties, cough drops, stray leaves, etc. The biggest problem is that she isn’t very accurate when she drops things. If you’re lucky, she’ll bring it right to you. If not, it’s three feet away. And she jumps up and chirps and paws at you because you’re NOT THROWING THE PAPER!!!

I have heard of other cats who do this, but thought you all might like it.

As does mine, but she only likes nature films, especially bears. Images of other dogs don’t particuarly interest her, but if a bear ambles onscreen, she’s transfixed.

Other funny things she does:

–After scratching herself, she’ll delicately sniff her foot. I’ve often wondered what she’s smelling for, but she’ll do it every time.

–She brings us presents of our underpants. Occasionally, she’ll dig in the laundry basket (dirty or clean) and bring us a pair of panties or one sock. She drops it in our laps, sits, and wags her tail, as if to say, “See what I found!” This can get a bit embarassing when guests are over.

–She wipes her face on the carpet after eating. I put a towel next to her bowl for this purpose, but after having her dinner, she prefers to come into the living room, and carefully wipe her mouth on the rug. The reasons behind this will most likely always remain unknown.

–She knows how to spell her name, and the words “out,”“vet,” “treat,” “pizza,” and “bath.” Once she learned these words, we tried spelling them in conversation, but she quickly caught on.
