There are always larger issues. That doesn’t mean we should abandon the smaller ones that we feel strongly about.
Now I don’t go up to people wearing fur and preach at them or anything, but I will say how I feel when there is a discussion about the topic (as there is here).

Anyone who has running water, and a computer should avoid any argument against posession of any item just because it is extravagant. Simply: They themselves are allready enjoying things which seem extravagant to the vast majority of the population of this earth.
Yeah I rant, I jot this tripe off in a hurry and hit “post” w/o proof-reading because, frankly, proof-reading is a cheat. I write the way I talk, most people don’t apparently and thus end up giving people a fractured opinion which is self-censored and padded. If I started to proof-read and edit my own thoughts it would be sophistry and make me the same kind of hack that most people are, and while the respect of others may be nice I prefer self respect.

Oooohhhhh kaaaayyyy, I think we’ve pretty well covered the slip of the keyboard that was “extravagance is what’s wrong with fur.”
I know people who are horrified by my lack of a militant stance on the issue of raising, harvesting and wearing fur. Vegans also can’t understand why I not only poison myself with dead animal flesh, but that I am also poisoning my only child the same way.
I think we can all agree that we wouldn’t want to be treated like a fur-bearin’ critter ourselves, but as I believe was stated earlier, it ain’t likely to happen anytime soon.
