It ended up as my #1 movie of the year. I watched again with my wife and it’s an extremely impressive movie.
The question remains, “Why is this old guy George Miller making the type of youthful movies the younger guys out there should be making?”
And…how did this not become a massive hit?
Fury Road is hard to equal. I mean, it’s probably the best action movie of all time. Also made by a man nearing 80.
George Miller is kind of amazing.
FWIW this was my entry into the universe. I then followed it with Fury Road as a double feature.
I enjoyed both but I clearly get why fans of Fury Road would not be as thrilled with it. OTOH seeing them Furiosa first works fine.
Really loved this movie and am still sore that it didn’t make enough to allow George to get the finances needed to make his next one which was going to be Mad Max the Wasteland.
Fury Road is my favorite movie of this millennium, and I still think the Furiosa movie got a bum deal. It was an excellent, but different, movie in the same universe. I can’t fathom how you could be a Fury Road fan and dislike Furiosa:AMMS. Fans like that are mediocre.
It’s been so long since I saw Fury Road that I regarded this not as a prequel but basically a standalone movie. My issue is that this is essentially a fantasy and I’m not a big fan of that genre. But they sure had lots of over-the-top action sequences and the use of CGI was very good. I enjoyed it but frankly didn’t find the actual story very compelling, but that’s just me.
