Futurama: The Prisoner of Benda

I loved the episode. My favorite bits were the sight gags–when Farnsworth is in Amy’s body as he walks off all narrow-eyed and hunched over. Or Zoidberg walking sideways in Fry’s body.

All that fancy maths, the Devil’s science, was kinda unnecessary seeing as you could switch your mind with expendable wash-bucket robots.

Lets say Fry and Zoidberg need to switch bodies.

Zoidberg in Fry’s body —Switches mind—> New Wash-bucket 1

Fry in Zoidberg’s body —> New Wash-bucket 2

Wash-bucket 1 (Zoidberg) —> Zoidberg

Wash-bucket 2 (Fry) —> Fry

My solution will leave behind heaps of confused Wash-buckets, but science can’t move forward without heaps.

You wouldn’t need heaps of wash-buckets. Those two wash-buckets can now be used to switch two more futurama cast members back to normal; this can go on indefinitely. When the wash-buckets are done, they can just switch with each other (if they are not in their respective “wash-bucket bodies”).

Congrats! You’ve just experimentally derived “Sweet Clyde’s theorem.” Somewhat.

I want my heap, dammit!

This episode was awesome. By far my favorite of the new season.

The Scruffy-washbucket section was perfect.

Oops, sorry…didn’t know I was being bad. I guess I figured it was ok since I originally got the link from a former thread.

I wanted to, but I couldn’t forget that it was Bender’s mind in her body. Otherwise…I’ve really been noticing Amy in the past few episodes; bra and panties in “That Darn Katz,” ripped cavewoman attire in “A Clockwork Origin.” And Leela was pretty hot in “ACO,” also.

I really liked this one. I thought the animators were pretty inventive with showing Zoidberg’s body while Fry was in it. You often forget Zoidberg is more weird and alien-looking than he seems. And it’s always a treat to see the things they come up with for Bender, as when the Professor (as Nonchalanto) performs the card-shooting trick with Bender’s head. And note the robot on the high wire that the Professor brought down.

I totally agree. I loved this episode, and my favorite parts, like pepperlandgirl, involved the characters moving in their new bodies like they did in their old bodies-- like professor-Amy walking hunched over, or washbucket-Amy walking robotically.

I rarely laugh out loud at tv when I’m watching by myself, but I did several times this episode. Like the Scruffy-washbucket romance, or Leela-Hermes sitting at a restaurant eating a “pork sundae.”

Actually, I found Leela-Amy’s/Hermes-Amy’s gorging really funny, for some reason. “Do you think I should eat more butter?”

D’oh . . . that should be Amy-Hermes with the pork sundae.

I think this is in my all-time top 5 favorite eps.

If Scruffy DID decide to run off with Amy!Bucket, would he be in a <Dramatic Chord!> Robosexual relationship?! </DC>

a robotic consciousness in a meatbag body, would that entity be considered a human or a robot (iirc, cyborgs aren’t that common in the Futuramaverse, except for when Nixon’s Head had first Bender’s body, and then that gargantuan robotic body…)

#12 proves the theorem is wrong, since using the theorem you cant get the solution (need the #12 solution), and sure, need a pair of persons for each disjoint cycle in the group.

Oh, I think the problem is that I don’t know how to read this:

σ = (<x,1> <x,2> … <x,i>) (<y,i+1> <y,i+2> … <y,k>) (<x,i+1>) (<y,1>)

And should be read like this:

σ = (<x,i+1>) (<y,1>) (<x,1> <x,2> … <x,i>) (<y,i+1> <y,i+2> … <y,k>)

performing first x and y changes.
¿Can anyone explain me the notation?

Thanks :slight_smile:

There once was a floating bucket,
that wanted a janitor to ffff… well, the rest writes itself.

This episode was good, though I liked the time-forward one better.

Eh, who cares now that robosexual marriage has been legalized. :wink:

Due to some serious OCD, I tracked all the body switches, 20 of them. Either I did something wrong, or they did. Spoiler alert:

** Zoidberg and Bubblegum Tate did not switch back!**

Maybe they did that on purpose to see if anyone was paying attention…

I noticed that one of the Globetrotters (Sweet Clyde? the one without the goatee) did not appear to speak at the end of the ep, I suspected that there is still at least one misplaced mind…

Is it Zoidberg, or Washbucket?

the final switch sequence (bodies);
Fry> Ethan Bubblegum Tate
Zoidberg> Sweet Clyde
Sweet Clyde>Zoidberg
EBGT>Fry
Professor>EBGT
Washbucket>SC
EBGT>Leela
SC>EmperorBot

Bender>SC

Washbucket>EBGT

I noticed that the ending was a bit like Checkov’s gun
Some good parts but mostly ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ .

The last line does not agree with the first line of your post. Did you mean Bubblegum Tate is in Bubblegum Tate?

:smack: Yes. Yes I did. I noted that Bubblegum Tate switched to Bubblegum Tate; but I forgot to reflect that in the second last result and the final one.
