FYI: Steam browser extension to highlight/dim/hide games based on review scores

Continuing the discussion from PC Gaming general discussion (Gaming PCs, game sales, news, etc…), mostly just to stop spamming that thread…

I made this browser extension for Steam that shows you the review summaries (like “Very Positive” or “Mixed”) next to every game. It also lets you selectively highlight, hide, or dim games based on their scores (configurable).

I made it mostly for my own use, because Steam has so many games & recommendations now that they’re impossible to sort through, especially with so many of them being poorly-reviewed AI slop. I wish Steam itself had this feature built-in! Anyway, a few Dopers have found the extension useful, so I thought I’d share it here.

It runs entirely in your browser, doesn’t collect any data, and only talks to official Steam APIs (though I might try to connect to SteamDB etc. in the future to get more useful metadata). It’s also open source and public domain, so feel free to do whatever you want with it.

Let me know if you encounter any bugs or want any additional features!

I downloaded the Firefox version a couple of days ago and it’s been incredibly easy to use. I’ve got it set to dim anything with a 39% rating and below, and quite frankly it’s amazing how many of those games are prominently displayed on Steam.

Showing the review summaries on the list page is also a no-brainer improvement, and I’m rather shocked Steam didn’t have that option before.

Highly recommend even for the casual Steam user - it literally took me less than 30 seconds to configure.

Thanks again Reply for setting this up!

This is really cool @Reply – thanks for creating this and sharing it!

FTR I am on Chrome “Version 156.0.8078.80 (Official Build) (64-bit)” on Windows and I don’t have any issues.

Y’all are welcome! Hope it’s useful. Let me know if anything needs fixing.

It may or may not work 100% with upcoming big sales; Steam tends to change their sales format and appearance every time, so it might take a few days for the extension to catch up, but I’ll try my best.
