Someone was recently chatting with me, and I wrote that the parser was whining at me. The person got really upset, and apparently thought I was insulting them. Since I’m afraid that person has put me on ignore, this is a public announcement that that was not what I meant.
The parser whined at me because my text was too long. I have nothing mean to say about you. How big a tool would I be to have apologized to everyone for pissing them off with the way I post, just to flat out insult someone?
I apologize if this type of thread should not be posted, but I don’t know how else to make sure the message is understood. The last thing I want is for people to think I am that big a jerk.
BigT was chatting with another doper somewhere else. He tried to enter a chat that had more characters than the chat service allowed and it popped up a dialog box telling him there were too many characters. He jokingly commented in the chat that the parser was whining at him and the person he was chatting with thought that he was calling them a whiny parser and left. BigT feels that they have likely put him on ignore so he’s made a thread to apologize for his mistake instead of sending a PM that the system might not even deliver. Because presumably, they’ll click on the thread to read his post anyway. (I also like the insinuated insult in the OP. "They didn’t know what parser meant, har har!)
