So reports al Jazeera.
Rats, his trial would have been a blast.
BBC news is reporting that Gaddaffi might have been captured.
Is he dead or is he alive? Where is Erwin Schrödinger when you need him?
The BBC won’t say “killed” until they can back it up though the general tone of the reporting is suggesting to me that he is dead.
CNN showed a grainy cellphone picture that certainly looked like him bloody and lifeless, being carried by a group of people.
You think that looked like him? It could have been any shot up, bloody, dead Libyan.
Another tyrant takes up residence in the Fletcher Memorial Home in the sky.
Boom boom, bang bang, lie down you’re dead.
I’d have paid money for the English translation at the bottom of the screen to have said, " So… I guess… THIS is how that ‘Hopey Changey Thing’ will work out for You…"
Yeah, it looked like him. As I said, it was a grainy cellphone picture, so it’s not definitive, but he has a pretty distinctive “butter” face that came through in the picture.
I agree. That photo very much looked like Gaddafi. Very distinctive face that comes through.
Here’s a link to a video with the picture. Warning graphic image.
(Link not broken because there are already ample warnings in the link and the video itself.)
CNN is now showing an even more graphic video of an apparently dead Gaddafi, don’t have a link to it yet.
Shame. I mean, the world is no poorer for the loss of another thug and tyrant (we’ve plenty of spares left), but keeping Ghaddafi alive for trial would have been a neat demonstration of the NTC’s capacity for discipline and restraint, and to command that quality in its troops. Especially since the fall of Sirte was rather a messy affair, it would have been good to see that.
Ghadaffi was too crazy or dumb to stand down to anybody…after 40 years of scaring your own people and bulgarian nurses, what’s left?
First reaction: ‘good riddance.’
Second reaction: ‘I wonder if anyone had him in the Celebrity Death Pool?’ (Apparently, a couple of participants did have him on their lists.)
Oddly enough, my first and second reactions were the same, but in reversed order.
To make this thread pointless, I’ll note that the terrible early Fox sitcom Second Chance predicted that Gadaffi would die in battle in 2011.
Initial reports claim Gaddafi was wearing a Shirley Temple costume and squealed “don’t hurt me, mommy!” while holding up a Koran as a Holy Shield as he was shot.
OK, I laughed.
