I think you could ask that question about nearly all of her fashion choices.
Seriously! Disturbingly funny. This is the first Lady Gaga song/video I’ve heard/watched, although I’ve seen her name mentioned frequently at Go Fug Yourself. Are they all like this?
What else can you use in prison? All her prison clothes seem to show her being resourceful, like her use of Diet Coke cans.

First of all, Lady Gaga is very, very good-looking. All this “she’s ugly,” “she looks like a guy” stuff is really from Mars. She’s stunning.
Secondly, is it part of her schtick that she sings about unbelievably vapid subject matter? People talk about how intelligent she is, but all her songs sound like they were inspired by one of Lindsay Lohan’s nights out.
They made a halfway interesting (if somewhat annoyingly long and indulgent) video for an incredibly uninteresting song.
Pretty much, although the ones for “Poker Face” and “Just Dance” are pretty ordinary by comparison.
That video makes me feel old.
To address the OP, yes, I really enjoyed the video. All of her videos make me a little uncomfortable and WTF-y while I’m watching them, but I think that’s the point. Sort of like going to a scary movie with the express intention of feeling fear. I also like the fact that she seems to be bringing back a story element to her videos, something that Michael Jackson (of whom I’m a fan) used to do.
The song itself is not the best example of her work. Even by the standard of dance-pop, the song is trite. It’s catchy, but not by any means original. Beyonce added nothing to the song, and come to think of it, the whole guest-appearance trope in contemporary music is starting to get annoying. There’s no reason to have a second voice on this song.
Bottom line: Video great, song not so much.
On the one hand, I’m not surprised that she conclusively put the dick rumors down like that, but on the other hand, I am a bit surprised she did so so quickly. I would have expected her to let them run a little longer-- There’s no such thing as bad publicity, after all.
Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if she were wearing a prosthetic during that concert that started the rumor, just to get people talking. She seems to be pretty good at that.
She’s kinda sexy, but that face isn’t all that attractive.
Ditto that. Too bad she’s such a butterface.
Also agree with the comment about the Autotune. That shit has to GO! I was at a place that was playing a modern r/b hip-hop mix recently and EVERY GODDAMN SONG HAD AUTOTUNE! What. The. Fuck. Can no one just SING anymore? Annoying as hell and it makes everything sound generic.
It’s not her body that makes her look like a guy. She just has an unfortunate case of dude face.
If she REALLY wanted to be edgy, there would be an uncensored version out there somewhere.
The video is great, which means the song sucks more than a hoover.
Beyonce is there to score some points or something.
As I said elsewhere Poker Face was a fine piece of pop but her stuff after that has been pretty forgettable . even lazy…
She needs to concentrate on the songwriting because I’m rapidly losing interest in her music.
Bu-bu-bu-butterface
bu-bu-butterface.
I don’t think she’s a butterface or has manface AT ALL. I think she has a really pretty face. Her nose looks kind of akward from some angles, but like Cindy Crawford’s mole, I think it’s an imperfection that makes her hotter. Give her a nosejob and she’s just Christina.
Her “ugliness” seems to be the same as a lot of stars’ beauty: it’s all hair, makeup, and clothes.
Wow, why did she make a video from the worst song on her new album??? At least the video made the song a bit interesting. I’ve always said Gaga is fun to watch, but not very interesting to listen to…
She’s making a lot of videos from her album; I wouldn’t be surprised if her goal was to do a video for every single song.
Also:
A lot of her schtick is exploring fame and also poking fun at current pop music and fame/celebrity trends. I mean, she has lyrics like “and I’m a hard girl, loving me is like straightening curls”; that is so obviously ridiculous it’s pretty clear she’s poking fun at stupid pop lyrics.
She really is intelligent and talented, even if you (generic you) don’t care for what she’s doing. But a lot of it is poking fun at the genre she herself is performing in, so it’s quite meta.
Oh, and this includes using the autotune that everyone hates.
This is what annoys me about her.
I agree that she is smart, and talented, but she chooses to whore herself out as a bland dance-pop machine that corporations can use to advertise their products.
It’s like watching Van Gogh paint barns with Pepsi adverts or something.
