Ok, ok… it’s going to be alright…
I got in touch with a previous coworker on Friday and asked about a position posted on his company’s website. I got a quick reply that he was heading out of the office, but would get back to me the following week.
That weekend I got my resume in order hoping for good news.
Monday morning he replies that the position is still available and they need it filled ASAP!
I send off my resume expecting to hear back that evening or the following day about an interview.
Monday night I bought some dress pants knowing that my suit had been eaten by moths the past year (damn things!). I thought about getting a new suit, but figured it would never be ready in time. I figured nice pants and a shirt and tie should get me by.
Well, all Tuesday it nagged at me. You see, I was raised to always wear a suit to an interview and look the best I can. But I had no suit! I fully expected a call that morning saying “Hey Sparky! We love your resume, come on in for an interview.”
By 3:45 I had still had no call. The suit thing nagged at me so much that I left work determined to buy one and get it ready for Thursday at the latest NO MATTER WHAT!
Well, I go to four stores and can’t find a suit that’s suitable (heh- a pun). The ones I liked didn’t fit right in the shoulders. The ones that did fit my shoulders were the wrong color or two button. By this time it was nearing six and still no call. I figured I’d give up and try for a suit the following evening.
I get home tonight after dinner with friends and check my email. I have one from the company saying they’re interested in an interview at my earliest convenience, the following morning if I’d like.
Yes!
Wait, I still have no suit.
No!
I can’t make tomorrow given the short notice, but even holding off until Friday I feel doubtful I can get a good suit in time. sigh
So it’s back to dress pants, nice shirt and tie. This is so going to bug me on the way there. I shouldn’t have been so picky tonight!
But on the plus side, I may have a new job in a few days.
