gaining weight

Cheesy Fries. They’re supposed to be the absolute worst thing for you. I didn’t put on weight until I turned 43. It sucked. I’m finally starting to get down to my preferred weight of 100.

Oh, and don’t do anything but watch tv.

I’m 6 feet, 155 lbs, and wanted pack on a bit of meat as I said before. I have a supersonic metabolism, but I never really have big meals, just eat thoughout the day. I just figured if I started gorging away on meat and pasta, that it would ‘stick to my ribs’. Thanks for the good advice all, I will do some research, and if I have any questions, I will ask em here.

Same boat.

I’m 5’11", and have bottomed out at 145 lbs, though recently my weight hovers around 152-154. My goal has been to get to a weight where you can actually buy a dress shirt in a neck / sleeve combination that exists on this planet, and not, apparently, Pluto, which is where one must appear to be from when you tell them what you’re looking for ( a 34/35 with a 15 neck? Seriously?)

So, I’ve learned that just eating more won’t do it. As dublos said, you need to create some muscle for all that extra food to stick to. I did weight training for a while, but I was never able to stick with it and the weight didn’t fluctuate much. The thing I was missing was cardiovascular work. Now, I run a couple of miles six times a week and do weights three times a week. Also, I eat “snacks” in between every meal, like those power shakes everyone has mentioned.

I’ve been doing this seriously for four months, and I’m up to a consistent 163. The next twelve pounds (my target, for now) will come much more slowly, but it’s a start. I’m no fitness guru, so I don’t know that I could answer many questions, but I’m sure more people here can help you.
The grass is always greener…

Being as you are a girl, you could always try…The Pill…in addition to its lauded contraceptive effects, you will magically go from working to gain weight to needing a seperate zip code for anything headed towards your arse. Tons ‘o’ fun!! No word yet on wether the process will continue…research is ongoing. I’m hoping for continental drift to just take it all away across the ocean somewhere.

When I graduated from high school I was barely five foot tall and weighed just under 100 lbs.
When I graduated from college four years later I was 5’6" and probably weighed at least 225.
My secret? An all-you-could-eat college cafeteria and a severe disinclination for any type of physical exercise. Put me on the road to where I am today, with a set of bad habits that keep (you should excuse the expression) feeding my weigt problem.
I’ll make you a deal, vanilla. You get one of those text-message pagers. Whenever I feel the urge to snack, I’ll page you and tell you what I was planning to eat. You eat it instead, while I enjoy the vicarious pleasure of imagining you eating it. I guarantee you’ll put on the pounds, and maybe I’ll manage to lose some.

Arwen; i am on the pill now!
I’ve only taken 3 weeks wroth however, so we’ll see how it goes.
Another good thing about it!
I will take the french fries with ranch dressing tip, however.
Maybe peanut butter sandwiches too.

I have a 14-oz. can on the shelf: 650 calories.

Yah, but does it taste okay?
Like a Mounds maybe?
