And the queers, too. Don’t forget them. No doubt Gallagher is the favorite target of the Gay Mafia.
Onion interview?
Isnt that the place that makes up almost believable but just a bit over the top shit?
AV Club plays it straight.
The Onion’s AV Club does straight cultural criticism/journalism on film, music, TV, and bitter, hate-filled, washed-up prop comics.
Oh okay.
And I guess they are allowed to talk about it too
Wow, that is a mess; he’s all over the place. Reminds me of Abe Simpson and the onion on his belt.
Also, I think he misunderstood the cop.
Perhaps Mel Gibson can help him out on his comeback.
Not that it’s an excuse for Mel, but Gallagher can’t even blame chronic drunkeness (AFAIK) for his bile. And while Mel had (at least in the younger days) his beefcake factor to fall back on, Gallagher has always looked like a ratty hippie, so I’m not sure what his plan B might be.
I found his brother’s myspace page amusing:
“Hey folks! I’m Gallagher’s older brother Ron. I go around the country, booking shows and doing my brother’s act. Unfortunately, I took it too far a few years ago and sort of led people into thinking that I was actually my more famous bro. To avoid problems in the future, I started calling myself “Gallagher II” but by then my brother already put a cease and desist order on me and well, I was pretty much fucked. These days, I scrap metal and pawn things. I had a good run though…”
That’s insane. A sold-out performance??
There’s a place for people like him.
It’s called Branson.
If the two Gallagher brothers did shows together, would they be greater than the Beatles?
Vat a country!
Yep, he’s found a home there – YAKOV
Wow- that’s not how I read that article at all. It was actually a topic of discussion at work for a few minutes amongst the cubes when it came out, and everyone was pretty much in agreement with him- A lot of comedy sucks. Dane Cook is a prime example. How much effort do you really think he puts in to his shows?
The part where he is griping about the audience is perhaps curmudgeonly, but again he has a point- I’m all for getting bombed in a local bar (Support your local bartender!), but it is a tad annoying when I go to the Funnybone and a bunch of braying jackasses are talking through the show/laughing at inappropriate times/heckling because of drunkeness. Why spend the cash if you are not going to remember the show?
Furthermore, I would like to hear some of this “Hate speech” myself. It seems bizarre that he would be able to say anything approaching what is quoted in that article without the audience leaving en masse.
/Not defending “Hate speech” per the OP, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Gallagher and this doesn’t sound anything like him or his shows.
Now that is funny.
He was also the celebrity guest on the maiden voyage of the monorail.
Wow, that was amazing.
He makes me feel young and hip, and I’ll be 50 this year.
Or would they cancel each other out?
